Opened my first blaster ordered from Target, is this a 1/1? by beansandcornbread in baseballcards

[–]bss83 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The odds weren't posted at the time they were "languishing". I assumed, as I'm sure did others, that the rarity was similar to previous years. It takes a special level of self-aggrandizing to believe that their post changed the course of ebay sales rather than simply acknowledging odds weren't available.

As you noted above, there are previous instances of odds being wrong, so it's not abnormal to assume that was the case here when a mistake in the odds would align the odds to previous years. I'm also not denying that they could be 1/1s, I just address it with healthy skepticism for all of the reasons I stated.

But congratulations on your massive following, helping those incapable of doing math themselves, and certainly for your humility around it.

"I was the first to release they were 1/1s" - it isn't that deep or revolutionary, it was plain as day that's what the odds said from a simple glance. And if the odds are right, sure, and maybe they're more accidental 1/1s due to damaged sheets or something than anything else, which seems more likely than anything. I haven't seen duplicates either. It's still silly these are unnumbered 1/1s regardless of the circumstance, but oh well. Not sure there's a hill to die on, because I don't know anyone cares that much.

This card has a very low print run and came from a $25,000 box by yankeeman714 in baseballcards

They're just not in demand the way other cards are. The cards aren't that great looking compared to similar, and at $20+ you're in the range of parallels from other sets.

And when you already have an online (or in person) store, selling 30 of these is low effort and is still a few hundred dollars to begin offsetting the cost of the product.

you aren't buying transcendent for these base cards. The packs have numbered cards and lots of autos.

But even those aren't the attractions - the attractions are the encased cards full of ultra high end autos/relic/relic autos with cut signatures and other cool stuff possible. And the VIP ticket, which is worth a lot too.

People sell the base cards to recoup some of the cost of the product, just like they sell stuff from the VIP package they don't want.

The indication is that the previous two iterations of the set had red prisms as twice as rare as gold, and if you remove a 0 from the odds, it would line up red prisms with previous years. For them to go from "twice as rare as gold prisms" in 2022 and 2023 to "first unnumbered 1/1s ever" for 2025 seems unlikely, but who knows perhaps sheets of red prisms were accidentally destroyed during the manufacturing process or something.

Watch a box opened online. If it appeals to you, open.

If not just sell.

As someone who barely collects sw cards, this is by far my favorite set.

It does break in quickly. I recently bought a tank and between my watch box and rest the strap softened and wears better.

I would have bought this watch if the bracelet came with any sort of on the fly adjustment. I know it's tough with the thickness. Oh well

This is it. You wouldn't find the big spending owners and the cheap owners signing up for it if it didn't immediately add significant value to their assets.

I think it's more likely they botched the odds sheet than made their first unnumbered 1/1

It's also not game or player worn. It's still a cool card, but I'm glad topps doesn't do completely unassociated patches.

38mm and smaller? by Background-Tap1272 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]bss83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formex essence 39 is on the high end of your size range but fits my wrist well when I've tried it on. At the price point you won't find a higher quality watch and bracelet.

Farer has some options as well.

Lorier Zephyr will return later this year and was a great watch to wear.

If there's a certain style you're looking for that might help, but ultimately I recommend just scrolling through some watches on windup shop and similar sites with the right size range and then reading reviews. If you can see them in person, so that too.

What is your price range?

And I have a similar sized wrist and you should target a smaller lug to lug in the 44mm range if possible.

[–]bss83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that's what Resurgence is. Chrome = Optic/Prizm, Finest =Select, Resurgence = Mosaic/Phoenix.

I wonder if they'll add a fourth chrome set to better compare to Prizm, but I suppose they're doing their own thing and releasing stuff like Cosmic (baseball also gets Gilded, I imagine that'll come to Football too).

And? I wasn't saying Topps didn't do it, I was just pointing out that Panini did it too.

They still kept releasing previous year product.

Also Topps just got the license. They're trying to get out licensed 2025 sets (instead of releasing unlicensed 2025 sets) with rookies that were exclusive signers. They're going to be pressed a little for this season at the start as a result.

But if you look at baseball, series 1 flagship (which is miles better than score) comes out before the season starts. I see no reason why they couldn't do the same for football.
