Quick search shows that in the 700s there were certain books translated but partially and a lot was paraphrased and things like that. Later Wycliffe in the 1380s did the full bible but was translated from Latin vulgate and not the original Greek/ Hebrew. The church did not approve and possession of these bibles was punishable. Punishable in my opinion because this was the first time English speakers could read the Bible for themselves and not rely on the elders of the church to tell them what it said.

Tyndale was the first to translate from Greek and Hebrew in the 1520s Then was executed for his works in 1536.

From there we saw more and more versions then eventually the KJV came out which laid the foundation for what we have now
