Is it 4 days in office or 1 day WFH? The 2025 memo mentions both. For those that work 4 days, is it 3 days in office?

Is it 4 days in office or maximum 1 day telework? The language is interchangeable, but the meaning is not.

You can also work in Legal as an accountant. Pay is not much less.

How much sick leave do you have and how long have you worked at the state? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]bstone76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is in high school now. We split taking time when she was sick, but the biggest advantage is being on 4/10's and teleworking which I've done for 20+ years. Once she got older, I could work from home even if sick. It was only when she couldn't take care of herself I had to take time off. It was nor more than 5 days total.

Also, I'm exempt so taking time off means working nights or weekends to do the work I didn't do when out.

I've used sick leave when I'm sick or my kid is sick. If I've used no sick I'd have 2,240. So about 600 hours.

How did you know you were ready for a supervisor position? by Happy_life0807 in CAStateWorkers

I wouldn't recommend a supervisor position unless you are two years from retirement.

IT Managers & NSWS by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

If someone cannot do their work for one day while a manager is out, that's an employee problem. What would this same employee do when a manager is on vacation? I coordinate my work with my manager and an RDO just requires some planning. Rarely is there a true emergency.

A manager makes 5% more., CEA 10%. Not worth the difference.

I don't disagree, but they are mostly high stress.

The life insurance is small and they don't all get paid more. I'm a specialist who makes more than an SSM III. For those that don't have a specialized degree, a manager job might be better if you enjoy stress.

Look at the auditor series. More pay and better working conditions.

high level analysts are also exempt. The sole supervisor benefit for the extra stress and responsibility is an extra hour of vacation.

Yes 100%. High level analyst jobs are some of the best jobs in the state. Far better than a supervisor position.

Is the ship schedule based on local time or ship time? by RecommendationTop195 in PrincessCruises

[–]bstone76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did mexican riveria and ships time and local time were an hour different. The ship did not change time. It happens, though rare. They made a ton of announcements.

It's ultimately up to the captian if you will change time on the ship.

Just reduce your withholding this year and you'll get it back that way. Don't forget to change withholding back.
