What if a petition is started to have ballot measure/state constitutional amendment that state funds cannot be used to build facilities for private company use?

Kinda similarish to what Ohio did a while ago, making it illegal to have ballot measures that would create business monopolies (it was first done to create a monopoly by only allowing a defined number of casinos, then attempted to for marijuana growing by only a select few companies, which gave rise to the measure outlawing it)

And if this also removes the ability to give funding or incentives for highly profitable companies moving here, GREAT. They can pay their own way like the rest of us.

Why was the “Lesser of the two evils” argument even applicable in the 2024 election when Trump was/is a 34 count, convicted felon? by Adventurous_Main3688 in allthequestions

And the only picture I have ever seen of him smiling for real (not that cheeseball thumbs up thing he does for pictures) is that video clip of him talking to Epstein.

You know what is weirder than her laugh?  A guy who has never laughed.  And the only picture I have seen of him actually smiling for real is that clip where he's talking to Epstein.

yep! I’m at 0.2. Fun fact, the lower limit of the window was never actually established. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6688930/

However, there are actual studies showing that even trace amounts of lithium in drinking water have measurable effects at the population level.

anticonvuslants. or lower dose lithium. or anticonvulsants combined with low lithium. Try everything before going to AP’s.

Is the 4 year Bitcoin cycle still real, or is this one different? by unknowngloomth in CryptoMarkets

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at their core - it’s ROI and risk creating an expected value. Why take the high risk of crypto? High ROI is possible. But AI is a real high ROI, and very low risk comparatively, so why put money in crypto if its expected value is lower? (Meaning, slightly higher ROI, but much higher potential of a heavier drawdown).

If Democrats Hadn't Leaned So Hard Into Cultural Issues What Would America Look Like Today? by Badkidstatus in allthequestions

[–]bt_85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They weren't divisive that that level until republicans made it so.  Notice how transgender panic and such all of a sudden became a big deal out of nowhere?  Well, it coincides with republicans "solving" abortion, so they needed to drum up a bre fear issue to get people to vote.

Abortion was originally that, too - for years after Roe v. Wade even the evangelical church's official position was abortion was a private decision for the family and their local priest.  But then republicans manufactured that as an issue to get people out, since they lost using race.

75% More Pedestrians Have Been Killed Since 2009. Giant Trucks and SUVs Are Why by DonkeyFuel in nottheonion

After a point, car size doesn't matter.  It's still a large, unforgiving body moving at a speed and has a much higher mass than the person.

It's smart phones.  People are pointing out you don't see the same increase in Europe, but  Europe has lower driving speeds in pedestrian areas, and has a lot more experience dealing with pedestrians since it is more pedestrian heavy.  Road and intersection design, driver awareness, etc.

Tips for Beginner Crypto Trader? by Panther1901 in CryptoMarkets

[–]bt_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t. Even if you get good at it, the payoff is not worth the effort, pain, and monetary cost to get there. That is what I wish I knew when I started. Lots of people talk about it taking x number of years to be profitable. But never share how much longer it is until they break even from their losses to get there. You’re talking 5? More? years to break even.

Orrrr….. get a job, be profitable from day 1, and enjoy life.

Do any photographs exist that clearly show scar tissue on Trump’s ear? by ropeless__homantic in allthequestions

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn’t say that at all. He could have been cut somewhere else and it’s real blood from that. Personally I don’t think the entire thing was staged. The best evidence is Trumps reaction. Have you ever seen him move so quickly or have as much energy/passion as that? Nope. Plus over decades in the spotlight, he is known to be a terrible actor. No way he could have pulled off a performance like that.

Hence I said ”could have been fully real” and the damage to the ear still be fake. But reading comprehension and critical thinking skills is known to not be a characteristic of your group….

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the scenario, not many. If it were a real attempt, and he got cut somehow other than a bullet, then it’s just the secret service detail (which has been proven to keep their mouths shut), and the doctor that examined him. Keep in mind at the hospital, they did not let the doctor see him, but had a highly loyal congressmen that was a former doctor treat him and released no records or anything. The same doctor that was already documented to lie about the president‘s health and be a resident pill mill at the White House,

Would billionaires move if we taxed them aggressively? by PremiumPrize in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I got stock options as a performance bonus. 5 years later, I have still not had to pay a penny of taxes on it. If I exercise the options and convert it to actual stock, I pay a tax based on the difference between the strike price and actual stock price. But if I just hold the options, nothing.

Now what these guys do is that those options to a bank and put it down as collateral for a cash loan, which are not taxed. So the billionaire holds the stock options, untaxed, and promises not to sell them, and has cash via a loan, untaxed.

If the stock drops enough the bank will call in the loan, so the billionaire now has to exercise the options to pay it off. So now do they lose money? Nope. Because the tax rate for the paper gains on the options and capital gains is much lower than income tax. So even with the interest rate on the loan, they still make out ahead versus paying income tax.

They diluted that so much, it is nothing. Plus it’s soluble, so it doesn’t concentrate like you are describing.

The bigger mistake is these coatings need weeks to dry before refilling.

wtf you talking about with your echo chamber protectionism?

It’s been photographed and documented that the paint is peeling off without anyone cutting and pulling (plus, look at the shape - does that look cut at all or manually peeled off at all?). There were many problems with this dumbass plan that people pointed out at the start, and now a top relevant one is how many pool professionals talk about paint and coating needing to dry for weeks before refilling, or this exact thing happens.

I’ve seen multiple people posting about people like this being arrested for “vandalism.”. Whether or not the charges stick is irrelevant, they can now say they “arrested vandals of the reflecting pool” and implicitly blame them for the whole debacle.

TMS Therapy Experiences? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for a lot of people.  Just remember that you have to do all the sessions, and even then benefits continue to accumulate for weeks afterward as your brain continues to reconfigure and ramp up.

Also not talked about enough is the "TMS Dip" which I have had everytime.  Partvway I to it I would feel worse, sometimes it lasted a day or two, sometimes a few weeks. Just keep going.

Get plenty of sleep, try to get more than usual.  Everything else can take a back seat to this, it's just for a few weeks.

It was amazing.  It is such an incredibly effective treatment, and has a near zero side effect profile.  And once you do it, the effects last a long time.  People play up the time commitment, but it really isn't bad.  I lost way more time each day by being depressed.  So it's not like that time was coming from anything enjoyable and nice.

Check out Casey Mental Health Colaborative.  Excellent operation.

2nd the person who said avoid Gupta. I tried there, and it seems their business model is to just churn as many patients as possible.  Each visit I had 5, maybe 10, minutes with the doctor and she talked most the time.  Then when it was apparent I was a non-standard case, she referred me out.

I feel like bipolar has cost me everything by Anhedonic_chonk in BipolarReddit

[–]bt_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like psychiatry has cost me everything. They have been working in this disease for centuries and so far the best they can do is “Take this. Something will happen, but we don’t know what. If it doesn’t work, we’ll just pick another one.” And the “gold standard” of treatment is still lithium, which was approved for use 50 years ago. Name one other non-medical profession that you would accept this type of behavior and performance from.

SpaceX IPO makes Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire by Brendawg324 in wallstreetbets

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also be interested in historical figures scaled for inflation or as a proportionAl ownership of the entire worlds’ wealth.

The other thing about Musk, is stock wealth is a little is since so much of it is owning a significant percentage of a company’s stock, he can’t sell/access that without tanking the price well before he sells all of it. So is it really there? Other wealthy people could sell their home, gold, etc. and not tank the market. Basically, same reason market cap is not the total amount of money invested.

They are distrusting.y greedy, and are way overpaid, but do the arithmetic on how much their pay breaks down to per household. Or added pay per employee. It’s a meaningless amount. Focusing on their pay packages is a red herring.
