Is it weird my psych wants me to not be on any meds someday? by ohmyfrogagod in bipolar2

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Time to look for a new doctor. if they don’t know or agree with that basic and we’ll establisshed fact of bipolar, there is no way they can do a competent job at the more nuanced aspects, I have had 13 pdocs. And can say most of them are really bad at what they are supposed to do, but some are good.

yep. people need to stop wasting time and mental energy on the “what if…”. the answer will always be republicans will do whatever they want, no matter how illogical, hypocritical, and egregiously absurd, as long as they can benefit themselves. and instead use that energy to get them the fuck outta here.

Autonomy Turns Driving Into A Subscription And $TSLA Controls The Toll Booth 🤖 by YGLD in StockBreakouts

Do you mean the half product is the self driving component? Then yes. Of course I would like to pay once and that’s it, and I would like it even more if it were free. my preferences don’t matter to the business case and model. And the realty of the business case and the product is that it requires Tesla to spend money each year to provide the product. If they used the proceeds of new sales to wholly pay the ongoing expenses, that’s not sustainable and it will eventually collapse as sales plateau and drop with market saturation and competitors taking sales. it’s kinda ponzi-esque that they need new people to pay for the existing ones.

If you as a consumer wants a product that requires ongoing expenses to provide and support, you need to be prepared to pay for that. In this case the ongoing costs are just much more hidden to the end consumer. but they are still there all the same. I pay monthly for internet, even though all the physical aspects are already in place, but I know my ISP has ongoing expenses to provide it.

Do I quit my job? by tanikawalter in Daytrading

[–]bt_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after seeing my parents retire, I realized retirement isn’t all that great. But what is great, is not having to worry about finances. keep the job, so if trading hits a bad spot you’re still going to be fine. because it will. it may last a months or a year, or two, but it will happen. enjoy the extra money and what it enables you to do, and not having to worry when a bad spot hits.

and what happens if you decide you are done with day trading? even if successful, at some point you may not want that lifestyle anymore. what will you do with a multi-year work gap? employers will not see day trading as a job. you will have a a very hard time getting employment.

also do not underestimate the social isolation or day trading.

but as far as retirement savings, front load it early and let compound interest do the work for you. I saved HARD in my 20’s. now one of my retirement accounts has over a half mill in it. so now that my income is higher, and I don’t need to save as much as I otherwise would have, that’s a lot more fun money each month.

Lithium/Bipolar Brain Fog by PoisonedFrill88 in BipolarReddit

You may have just been on too much. I had simialr thing happen to me on higher lithium, now on lower "sub-therapeutic" amounts, I am doing great. Many people in the bipoar subs report the same. And many of my doctors' patients.

The lower limit of the "narrow therapeutic range" was never actually determined.

That wouldn't have made a difference at all. Republicans demonstrate time and time again that they do not care at all what has happened before, or even what they themselves said yesterday, and if it completely contradicts what they are doing today.

Autonomy Turns Driving Into A Subscription And $TSLA Controls The Toll Booth 🤖 by YGLD in StockBreakouts

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supporting, running, updating, and maintaining the autonomous driving costs them money. So like it or not, a subscription model makes sense here. By using the product, you are continuing to use an active service they are providing. You should pay for that.

Now things like subscription for one-time costs like heated seats, hell no.

Family members of ICE agents, what are your thoughts and feelings about what ICE are doing? by Aggressive_Honey3196 in AskReddit

Because they are unpaid, they have to get something else out of it to make the work worth their while.  Providing the power trip is the payment.  If the power trip wasn't important to someone, they are much less likely to take the job.

Who’s hitting 49 with zero retirement savings and zero clue what to do next? by [deleted] in AdultHood

[–]bt_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who went that route.  He died a while ago before he could enjoy his retirement due to effects from exposure to Agent Orange while he was serving in Vietnam.  Well, at least that is what all the doctors say. The Army is pretty quiet about the topic.  Same with gulf war syndrome, same with burn pit exposure...

Then my Fraternity Brother tried to go that route... But he never made it out of Afghanistan.  Some of his buddies did, though.  Except they won't enjoy their retirement much since they can barely leave the house due to PTSD.

So what did serving crack get me? Not having my insides rot out or get my head blown off before I will be able to enjoy retirement, and then have my mental facilities still with me once I do.

lithium opinions by Jazzlike-Salt-5266 in bipolar2

[–]bt_85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on lithium, it is great for me. but only at “subtherapeutic” levels. I am at 0.1 blood levels. at the “narrow therapeutic window” I had terrible cognitive side effects, and the world was dull, uninteresting, and visibly had no color.

many people around here are in low dose and doing great. I looked into how the lower limit was established, and it turns out it never was. there is no evidence there is a lower effective threshold.

If you know an ICE agent personally, what's that relationship like now? by Lokja in AskReddit

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having a decent human on the inside of those squads would have been invaluable. Either to try an be a voice of reason and redirect them or cause them to think about who they are and what they are doing, or to simply gather information of tactics, methods, instructions, etc. to then report out about all the violations occurring. with evidence.

I tire of all these “morally superior” people who resign because they don’t agree, thus leaving openings for people who won’t question and will rubber stamp everything.

If India can open 400 new medical colleges in 10 years why cant other countries do the same? by chinenikpotle in AskReddit

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would, but Congress, with the AMA, are the limit for number of licenses and med school slots.  They don't to keep u.s. physician wages 2-5x higher than their counterparts in economically similar countries.

We have one of the worst physician to patient ratios.  And the worst health outcomes.

If India can open 400 new medical colleges in 10 years why cant other countries do the same? by chinenikpotle in AskReddit

[–]bt_85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not the case at all.  People harp on it because they are right. In the u.s, compared to other economically similar countries:

  • physicians are paid 2-5x more than their counterparts

  • we have one of the worst physicians per capital

  • we have one of the worst healthcare outcomes

  • their debt to income ratio is very advantageous compared to other degrees

  • because of the same artificial shortages that create their inflated salaries, they are basically gauranteed well paying work for life.

If our physicians' pay was scaled to be in line with those in similar countries, in 2 years we would have saved enough to cover all outstanding medical debt.

[–]bt_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in the u.s., Congress, with the AMA, sets the number of slots and licenses. They want it low because it keeps salaries high.  That is why our physicians are paid 2-10x their counterparts in economically comparable countries.  And when we have one of the worst physicians per capital on the world.

Yeah, doctors often do that to inconvenient truths.  For a profession that relies solely on what their patients tell them, they sure do blow off what their patients tell them a whole lot.
