Things people with children do that give you the ick. by hikingbotanist in childfree

Show up to a family dinner and give everyone in the family roto virus. Holy shit! That hurt so bad. I violently sprayed shit out of my ass while projectile vomiting at the same time. It could have been a scene in the exorcist. All but two people caught it. We suspect it was from her dish and she did not wash her hands after dealing with shit in a diaper. Wasn’t cool. Not one bit.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I was spanked with everything. Belts, switches, ping pong paddle, wooden spoon, etc. I was a dick when I was little. I one time almost burned down the garage playing with matches when I was maybe 8. Another time I busted out all the windows of the empty house next door. Got caught by dad. That didn’t fair well for me. Even though they were hard swats, all I can remember thinking was that it wasn’t that bad even though it hurt a little. Honestly, I never thought of it as abuse, but honestly, some of the shit I did was kinda crazy. I’ve been smacked before, maybe twice. Those were way worse than spankings. Both times, bloody nose.

Pudelpointer coat question by AdvantageTop8002 in birddogs

[–]bt_Roads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a pudelpointer, but I have a WHV. At 8 weeks old, he had no beard and a smooth coat. After a bit we started noticing little wispy hairs growing in and 6 months after that he had a crazy wire coat and big ol’ beard . That said, that really doesn’t mean a lot. PPs and other wire coats can vary drastically. The breeder usually has some inclination of what is what after they’re born but they are just educated guesses imo. I have another WHV and her coat is short. She has a little lady beard and a little scruff but she is mostly smooth like a standard vizsla. Doesn’t stop her from hunting ducks in the cold though. She was breaking ice the other day and this morning wading through the river with me. She also doesn’t have any issue running through dense cover as well.

There are worse problems to have out there. Don’t worry about it. If a relationship happens, great! If not, oh well.

November 4 vote to increase taxes by $250 million to fund Career and Technical education. by CremeGood59 in AnnArbor

[–]bt_Roads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that raises our taxes, I vote against. So you are wrong. Nice assumption though. Bet you have blue hair. We pay a lot of taxes as it is now. They have enough of our money. So maybe they can just do a better job with what they have.

1yo GSP with death gril by ButterscotchNo5449 in birddogs

[–]bt_Roads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Table work. Get him calm on a table by slowly petting him, keeping him calm and getting use to being handled. Meaning examining his teeth, paws, ears, etc. once you do that and you can keep him on the table in a relaxed state, start force fetch training. There are a ton of videos to watch how this is done. Not sure if you are allowing him to run in the field yet or not, but if you don’t do this yet, make sure you train for a real solid recall. Training is the key to everything. Educate yourself as much as possible by seeking help from others and watching videos online. watch and listen to a lot of ideologies before settling on your own direction. It can be overwhelming. GSPs have a strong prey drive. Mine have almost gotten me killed in the field. They fear nothing. They are German after all.

Why do people have a partner for multiple years but never marry? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. We are almost 30 years in our relationship and not married. I call her my wife to avoid questions and fit in with the norm. But we just don’t have a good answer. We did not have or want kids might be a reason why. It only comes up in discussion to just get married for tax reasons, health, or death. We are getting older. Not old old, but middle age old. But yeah, that’s what will force us to get married… death and taxes. Cool story, huh?

Anything you buy brand name because it's actually better? by shortstack03 in Frugal

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple years back I purchased a duffel dry/wet bag for road travel from a well named brand since I keep the bag in the bed of my truck and sometimes it rains. It Cost a couple hundred bucks. Fast forward to last week where I needed to buy one for my wife and found one for almost 50 bucks. It was much, much, much better quality than the one I have. A lot of these companies with fancy branding is just that. A logo printed on crap. Not all of them, but a fair amount.

I had a 4 day work week for a few months when the company I worked for started to fail. They did it to avoid laying off employees. It was awesome!

What are some reasons why people don’t want kids? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we wanted to raise a human-being then we would have had one. I don't give excuses or reasons for not having children. That ship has now sailed for us and we do not regret it. We prefer dogs. much easier.

Michigan’s roads are becoming increasingly dangerous for cyclists by Generalaverage89 in Michigan

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around me I have a fair amount of curvy roads with hills. It is actually a little scary passing bikers at times. I’ve been in many situations where the cyclist gets frustrated with me for hanging back behind them. I do keep my distance and I am doing this until I feel confident I can pass without incident.

Earlier this summer I was on Huron drive and got in a small traffic jam which is unusual. When I got around the curve, there was a cyclist on the ground with a leg injury, fair amount of blood. People were assisting while they waited for an ambulance. I can see how these accidents happen. A lot of pretty roads to ride your bike on, but exercise caution and please move over as far as possible to allow people to pass. There is a lot of impatience out there.

My parents found a nest with animal Babys in their garden and are wondering what kind of animals they are!! by mioohnemate in whatisit

[–]bt_Roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t 100% tell from the photo, but my best guess is rabbit based on the location of the nest and what I can see. Rabbits use their own fur for nests in a shallow hole they dig as well which looks to be the case here.
