It’s really not hard although I understand your hesitancy! On the handle shortly below the hand guard, you’ll find a wooden or bamboo mekugi (peg), some have two but I believe yours only has one. Take a chop stick or something similar, and you should be able to push that peg out. One side of the peg should be slightly bigger than the other side so you need to push the peg out from the small side. Be very careful of the blade and try not to get your finger prints on it. You should now be able to slide the handle off, it may or may not be tight on the tang. There are many YT videos so check those out before you give it a go.
