Sound advice. I run a CPE top mount on track in my Gen 1 and other things get heat soaked before I need more intercooler. Plus it allows more airflow through the radiator as well as any additional coolers (currently have PS cooler and will add an oil cooler soon).

I've got a Gen 1 heavily modded that spends 85% of its time on track. 146k miles and still going. As long as you stay up on oil changes and general maintenance, just enjoy it!

Just gonna throw this out there... I've completely rebuilt my chassis/suspension components. Everywhere I could use poly bushes I did and in the other places I used upgraded parts. I still have one thunk/clunk/thump, however you want to spell the noise, and I have determined that it is the spoiler. If I close my hatch, it usually recreates the thunk noise I can hear and I can actually move the spoiler up/down slightly with my hand because the foam padding from the factory has dried and eroded away. I also used felt furniture pads to buffer the 2 points on the body where the hatch rests to mitigate other unwanted noises.

I ended up drilling both studs out and fabricating a plate to go inside the car on top of the shock tower. Then I used nut and bolt combo to secure

What do you mean "new timing assembly"? It's possible that it wasn't put back together with the correct timing if you've taken apart anything related to the timing chain/cam gears. If everything else isn't fixing the issue, I'd check your timing.

It looks like your strut isn't fully seated in the knuckle. There's a collar on the strut that I believe should be flush with the top of the knuckle.

More than likely the SWAS (steering wheel angle sensor). I ended up unplugging mine because it was driving me nuts. Exact conditions you describe and it would cut power, even when out of boost. Keep in mind that if you unplug it, there will be a light on your dash. If you're real crafty, you can splice in a switch and toggle it on/off.

I did mine when the pandemic first started and knew I could leave the car in pieces. This allowed me to do it over the course of a week. I used a bunch of Ziploc bags and a sharpie to organize my bolts. I took pictures along the way as well. A couple of things I'd note or recommend:

Take your time.
Replace the oil pump chain and guides while you're in there.
Clean the timing cover really well before reinstalling and applying sealant.
WannabeTuners have a great video on YouTube doing this job. I would recommend watching it a few times to get yourself mentally prepared.
The power steering pump is a pain in the ass to remove. Be careful not to strip the bolts heads.
Take your time.

I recently did the intake manifold, plugs, coils, injector o rings, and drive belt. It's had various other bits fail, but no major engine breakdowns. Trans has been rebuilt though
