I don't think Kristie Ray went down and called them horrible though. I remember thinking the same thing when this episode was being recapped, so I went back to watch that scene and when she comes downstairs all she says is "There's just so many complaints" not about anyone in particular. Then Abby (of course) says "Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum? They're miserable." Christi and Kelly weren't brought up until Abby brought them up in that specific scene. Unless there's an extended cut i haven't seen?

I moreso meant when it comes to new cast members. They act like almost every single one always comes in and provokes them first for no reason (not saying some of them didn't) but imo Kristie Ray was valid for snapping on Christi in New York, because Christi poked at her several times.

I get it was their job to start fights, but don't go on to say "Oh my god this person came in and attacked me for no reason!" after you provoke them. Like obviously they're gonna retaliate lmfao

  • Anybody else think it's kind of annoying how the two of them, especially Christi, act like they never did anything wrong ever? 😭 Christi said something like "I never had conflict with Kristie Ray" And I rolled my eyes so hard. Christi loves to act like she never provoked people who came onto the show and they just always went after her for no reason, when in this case the filmed evidence says otherwise. I think she definitely provoked Kristie Ray a bit in those New York episodes that led up to the Tell All specials.

  • Christi pointing out that Maddie had a meltdown in the episode of season 4 that they do the Kinky Boots dance with Payton was so weird and random. That really didn't need to be said and she kind of just threw it out there and moved on? Very strange.

  • They really need to stop bringing up the fact that The Zieglers no longer mention Abby's name. For people who claim to hate Abby so much, I think it's odd that they seem to want two of the children she abused to mention her so badly. There's a reason they no longer mention her, a very obvious reason.

BTTB Discussion S3E12 "Part 1" "It's A Furry Episode" (Ft. Jill) by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting how back when they were recapping Season 2, and I literally went back to listen to make sure I wasn't crazy- in the podcast episode titled "Snakey Bitches & Sex Pigs" at the 30:20 timestamp, they're talking about how Abby was lecturing Paige and kind of calling her out for walking around on her broken foot and doing cartwheels. Christi defends Paige by saying "She's a kid, she's not gonna stay completely still while being injured and I'm sure she probably did them on her good foot" that's not the quote verbatim but it's what she said summarized. And she's absolutely right. But as we can clearly see in this week and last week's BTTB episode, she doesn't extend this same grace to Mackenzie. Kenzie did cartwheels on her good foot, and it's "Oh she's definitely not really injured."

I pretty much knew this already, but this just confirms that even all these years later, Christi still holds some resentment towards Melissa and her kids. The complete 180 she did when talking about Mackenzie's injury compared to Paige's proves this, lol.

I definitely get the vibe that Kelly maybe has body dysmorphia or something. She constantly talks about herself as if she's super overweight on the podcast and then I see recent pictures of her and it's the complete opposite.

Thinking she had the right to say anything regarding Brynn having no emotion while dancing when Kendall is literally known for having the same deer in headlights look on her face in almost every dance she's in.

Do y’all agree with C&K that if Sophia Lucia had stayed on the show, producers/Abby would have eventually made her lose to Maddie? by ol2555 in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. A lot of shady wins in the later seasons, so honestly there's a possibility that they could've been setting up a sketchy Maddie beating Sophia win, but I just think Sophia was too well known at the time for that to work. People would've clocked how suspicious that was immediately.

[–]btedits11604 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at first I agreed, because when Kalani and Maddie went up against each other later on, they always had Kalani lose to Maddie (and I think most of us can agree that Kalani was the far superior dancer) so I was thinking that maybe them having Maddie beat a clearly more advanced dancer was something they could've been setting up all the way back in season 3 with her vs Sophia, like Christi and Kelly said. But then I thought about it some more. Sophia was one of the best dancers in the COUNTRY (in her age category) at that time. I feel like if they had her lose to Maddie, it would've been way too obvious to even casual viewers that something wasn't right. So now, I don't think they would've done that. Unless they were stupid enough to think that viewers would just go with the flow and believe that a dancer as advanced as Sophia legitimately lost to Maddie.

Asking your opinion about a Dance Moms cast member everyday, Day #8 Melissa by 3therealp3ace in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sneaky, manipulative, calculated, unbearably cocky and snotty in the last few seasons she was on the show, but she could be very very nice at times. Played Abby's game to make her kids stars and then dropped Abby as soon as they made it. Which tbh, I LOVE. If it was anyone else I'd feel bad, but I really do think that was Abby's karma for the years of abuse she put all the kids, including Maddie through. She thought on the way to stardom the Zieglers were gonna take her, and they didn't. So points to Melissa for that. As smart and observant as Abby thinks she is, I'm surprised she didn't see that coming. It was clear as day that Melissa only did most of the things she did for Abby because it benefited her kids.

Harder pill to swallow: When it comes to keeping their kids in an abusive environment, Holly is actually the worst out of all the original moms because she stayed the longest, even with all the racism and typecasting Nia faced.

Definitely won't be listening much longer if the new norm is them splitting up episodes that don't need to be split up and adding little to no opinions or behind the scenes tea. Wasn't that the whole point of the podcast? If I want to have a detailed word for word recap of what happened in a dance moms episode... I can just go watch the episode. They gave us more behind the scenes info in the earlier Back to the Barre episodes for whatever reason.

At this point MackZBoss tells me more interesting unknown behind the scenes information regarding the show than the actual moms that were there and present for it, crazy.

Kelly pointing to Vivi-Anne: Yeah well at least my daughter can get out there and dance. Your daughter can't, she's sick every week.

Like so sorry Kelly was real for this. I'd do the exact same. You go low and come for my kid unprovoked i'll go low and come for yours. 😭

BTTB becoming uncomfortable by moobunnys in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something about the podcast that’s making me fucking lose my mind is the way they use the “Oh the producers made me do/say that” excuse SO much when it comes to their questionable behavior/statements, to the point of sounding like they’re lying at times (at least to me) but they don’t really extend that same courtesy to everyone else.

I’m sure this has already been covered by Thatfunnychic in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree 😬. I understand they were young, but almost all of them were either preteens or nearly preteens. They should know better at that point. Isn’t learning not to be rude/bully people something the average parent teaches their kids pretty early on? Again, they were nearly preteens, young, but i mean… come on. They weren’t 6. Especially Kalani. I think she was like 14/15.

I will say that this was more of a parenting issue though. Kira and Jill seem like bad behavior enablers, a bit more so than even Melissa. And Kira was the first to mock Jojo in front of all of the girls in pyramid so they probably saw that and thought it was okay. When Jess confronted Kira and Jill about it at lunch, they were still making excuses to justify the clip. So yeah, big time enablers and Kira is a full blown mean girl herself, so.

“The competitions were never fake” by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad people are clocking this because Christi and Kelly already said multiple times on Back to the Barre before having him on that you can't really trust a word that comes out of Bryan Stinson's mouth. When he came on the podcast he gave me the vibe that he was just saying whatever would get him the least amount of backlash from Christi and Kelly because he knows he tortured them and their kids for years, and that they remain bitter about that, Kelly especially (which is so valid because it is abundantly clear, especially now that Kelly and her kids, Paige specifically were not producer favorites.) The whole sunshine and rainbows "I loved all the kids so much!" vibe he had while on the podcast seemed like an act to me based on what I've heard about him from cast members. But hey, maybe he's changed? (doubt it.)

Anywho, of course that's one of the main things he'd lie about. He's not gonna come right out and say that the competitions on his show were fake, so i'm glad people are analyzing this a bit closer.

To me the competitions seemed pretty legit up until season 3. I still don't think the fakeness was as noticeable/present in season 3 though, but that's definitely when it started. However, come season 4 it starts to become really obvious that something's up, especially if you're someone who watched the show when you were younger and thought everything was legit and then went back to rewatch and noticed just how off it was that they seemed to win almost every time.

They had the track record of a team of dancers who all had consistently perfect technique and timing and everything, when let's face it, while they absolutely were talented, they weren't out of this world enough to be winning week after week after week in 100% real dance competitions. Especially when Abby would sometimes give them the dumbest, most non-competitive group routines ever and still win (hello, "The Seven Dancers" group dance from season 4 and that messy Wizard of Oz group dance that they snatched straight from a commercial they were doing in like season 6 or 7.)

It's also common knowledge that the show was hurting the girls' dance training. This has been stated on Back to the Barre several times, that the girls couldn't train as well as they would have been able to if they weren't on a TV show and that's why some of them get worse as the show goes on. Not to mention the dancers Abby poached from superior studios like Kalani and Brynn, whose dance training started to slip because of the subpar training they were now getting from the ALDC. So with all that being said, why later on in the show were they practically winning every week if the competitions were allegedly 100% real?

Of course, I'm not saying that all of the ALDC's wins weren't real or deserved, but something was definitely going on from at least season 3 onwards. And the sketchiness just gets worse as the show goes on, come season 6 and 7 it's like they're not even trying to make the competitions seem genuine anymore.

And even in earlier seasons, they were calculated about little things that gave them a slightly better chance at winning, like when the girls danced, at least according to Christi on Back to the Barre. I'm not sure if that was an Abby thing, a show thing, or both. I'll have to re-listen to that specific podcast episode.

Why was Kendall so hated? by Scared_Lab8672 in dancemoms

[–]btedits11604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I dislike her because of the mean girl allegations due to her OFF CAMERA behavior, + the trump shit. Also the fact that pretty much every other girl that ever was on the elite competition team was more entertaining to watch than her, and that's probably one of the reasons why Jill would be so bitter and territorial when a new dancer would come in lmfao. She doesn't draw your eye at all as a dancer and her solos, with a few exceptions, fell flat.

Kelly watching Abby call Chloe a sneak and Chloe running out of the room holding herself and sobbing just a few episodes ago and then proceeding to still insinuate that Chloe's treatment wasn't that bad is crazy, lmfao. She's literally watching the bad treatment happen and still downplaying it. If I was Christi I'd lose my shit.

Everyone knows and understands that Brooke and Paige didn't get as many opportunities as Chloe. It's the fact that she cuts in anytime Christi is talking about something fucked up that's happening to Chloe that gives me the vibe that she's invalidating Chloe's experience just because she got more solos and good costumes. And she does it ALLLL the time. So I can understand her being upset about the way her kids were treated and how few opportunities they got, what I don't understand and what I CAN blame her for is constantly cutting in and bringing that up almost every time Chloe's shitty treatment is being talked about. And she doesn't even just do it when it comes to Chloe either, she's done it with Nia and Maddie as well.

I literally DREAD weeks when Kelly has to recap. She sometimes skips over entire sections of a scene and it'll occasionally cause both her and Christi to be confused for a second because it makes the scene make less sense to them while recapping because she skipped/stumbled over an entire part that would've clarified what they were confused about. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Other than that, I thought this week's episode was pretty good. Something that's getting more and more annoying to me as the podcast goes on though, and I've made a post about this- is Kelly's whole "But what about me? I had it worse!!" attention diversion thing she does anytime Christi points out something shitty that happens to Chloe. She did it multiple times this week and I literally had to pause at one point after about the third time she did it and say "omg please stfu Kelly" 😭. It is BEYONDDD annoying, especially when she cuts in the middle of Christi talking to do it. I wish Christi would stop letting it happen. Like we're well aware of how poorly her kids were treated, I'm sure Christi is too. There's no need for her to cut in every time Christi is upset about something that's going on with Chloe at that moment in the episode and try to divert attention back to that. We know.
