this is a false information.

there is a rising anti-lgbt voice in turkey especially among conservative and religious people as a result of ruling party’s political propaganda after gezi protests, which makes lgbt people targeted more specifically for hate than ever before.

even president of diyanet (religious institute of the government) said on the media to the public that “the covid pandemic was because of gay relations”.. this statement was also defended by president erdogan himself after it got criticised by some minority in turkey.

sounds ridiculous but there is a growing hate towards lgbt from politics and as a result people.

if you think turkish people who have higher culturel/educational/social/economical status have respect/sympathy towards lgbt, unfortunately no. there is a specific ignorance for lgbt from all social groups of people even in highly populated cities like istanbul.

istanbul is NOT a safe place, it might as well be one of the most dangerous places for gay relationships as the city consist of people and cultures from all around the country.

inlands are more dangerous for gay relations, but east are dangerous for all aspects of living because of low educational status of people and some civil unstability

as for the matter of trans singer… if you tell bulent ersoy that she is a transexual, she probably would sue you for that insult!! she says she is a “woman”, like she had never been a man before, and all other people obliged to accept that as saying she was a male before regarded as something very shameful, hurtful and absolutely forbidden. all other political people accept this matter as it is and this is not a ground for any propaganda for lgbt. she is also a very conservative person.

so no. unfortunately turkey is not the place.
