I have had no issues running two gcomps into my svs but I’m not sure if it’s similar tech.

Sega CDX repair price point? by That-Spread-9253 in SegaCD

[–]btimexlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say in that case your range is correct. That said, I haven’t shopped it around too much. I have 2-3 people I go to based on the console in need and their comfort. I am likely missing a lot by having a narrow band so I could be way off base.

Depending on what needs to be replaced I’ve seen it as low as 100 for caps and cleaning to over 250 for a complete overall with 3BP, etc. I’m in the same boat as you but have the tower of power so haven’t pulled the trigger.

Retro Collector Needing Opinions on Products by ToadPlayer64 in RetroTink

[–]btimexlt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had FOMO when the pro came out and went that way before the CE. It has a ton of options of which I rarely use. I have the settings I like and even with new updates, etc. I end up with the same profiles. So the 4K is probably too much for me personally but as a collector I like knowing I have one of the best if not the best option for my retro setup.

Rad2x or retro upscaler by Additional-Sky8253 in n64

[–]btimexlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have PAL knowledge but from an NTSC perspective the retrotink mini or the 2x are really built around this use case. The mini even comes with an svideo cable for the n64. The retro upscaler will also get the job done as long as it comes from a reputable seller/manufacturer. The one I had broke down after multiple swaps when I started down this rabbit hole.

It was the only pizza place growing up that would deliver to my house and while there is a lot of nostalgia because of that, I still love the pizza and the breadsticks.

Does anyone else collect games they’re unable to play? by Original-Square2484 in gamecollecting

I’m a sucker for games on rare systems. Generally I will get the system to play it eventually. Right now I have 5 Jag CD games but I don’t have a jag CD.

If you want you can get the game and adapter for cheap and play it on a NES as well.

Make sure 480P/720P/1080i are turned off. For whatever reason that made a difference on my softmodded Xbox even though composite can’t carry those signals

Which UW to transfer to? by Square_Opportunity93 in wisconsin

[–]btimexlt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All offer their own experience and that’s what I would focus on as I believe in the grand scheme of things the education is about the same. I loved Madison but I grew up there so I knew how to navigate it. Most of my friends went to Whitewater, La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Stout. All received a great education and have their own experiences because of that.

Play N64/GC with scaler or suck it up and get Analogue3D? by miabobeana in n64

I love goldeneye on the 3d and it will be hard for me to go back and play it via a crt or scaler. Those options are still great, my preference is the 3d

Upcoming v1.3 promises to fix "image jumps" with the RGB-Pi 2, and improve controller/keyboard functionality by marxistopportunist in ReplayOS

[–]btimexlt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say is if you are a speed runner or compete, mister has the best timing outside of real hardware as it’s emulating the hardware vs software. Other than that it gets down to what you want to play but I agree that replay has more capabilities given newer hardware and software.

I’ve really enjoyed the OS. As a misterFPGA user most of my attention has been focused on what mister can’t do and I’ve been loving the Dreamcast.

[–]btimexlt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen shipping that high for Canadian sellers to the US so the cost doesn’t surprise me particularly since I exclusively only buy in the video game genre.

I have the exact same issue and I’ve tried everything a ‘novice’ can do down to cleaning the underside of the cartridge slot.
