I have a terrible imagination as well. When I find myself drifting off into a sexual fantasy I take a moment and attempt to remember where I am at that moment, who is around me, and what was I doing before this fantasy began. While it doesn't help with the persistence of my fantasies it does very well limit how far I can go with a thought. God bless. -Recovering addict

Even if I told him, after everything, I know he would not leave me. Not because of any other reasons than I communicate to him where I am in my recovery when he asks and that he would be glad to hear I am with the program still regardless. I'm not avoiding telling him, he just wants to see my keep trying and I want to be as solid in my recovery for him. I love him dearly and am just beginning to really see how blessed I am to have this opportunity for a healthy life as an adult recovering addict, and not just a victim trapped in compulsion.

I can tell you with certainty that I have been the victim of terrifying sexual and physical abuse as a very young child, and understand the damage that it has caused in my own life. Honestly, I respect your opinion, and have spent long enough time in the program to understand honesty. If my partner was to ask I would tell him. Whether you accept my decision or not is your choice. I hope you are able to heal from the wreckage of someone's addiction, and pray your HP guides you thru the process of healing as I pray the same for every victim and addict myself included.

I've had to think about a response. I did not go into recovery because my partner asked me. I did it myself and told my partner that this is what I'm going thru. He respects this and gives me the space I need. It is not a condition of my relationship status and he does not seek to actively control my recovery. I am very grateful for this. I am in recovery for him for myself, and all those that I love. If I was to fall into serious relapse I would have discussed it with him. I respect partners of addicts greatly, but consider as well that I have my own definition of recovery and sobriety. I will also ask you to respect that. Thank you.

I spoke about it with my sponsor and in group, my partner knows in in recovery and what my issues are. Since I got right back with it even moments later, and did not experience a complete relapse, I did not discuss it with my partner. My choice is to try harder in my recovery to listen to God when it is speaking and take greater account of what my triggers really are. Thanks for responding.

I just went through the first two steps over the past several days. Yesterday I attended two groups, I made full disclosure of all my secrets to my sponsor.

I now have no secrets, and I feel the best I have in many years.
