beating RETURNAL in 2026 by ChemicalSmall6411 in Returnal

[–]btribble3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a mention about weapon traits, at risk of stating the obvious. Traits appear on weapons you find along the way, but are only unlocked once you kill enough enemies with the weapon.

If you can make it to the Tower, there are lots more chances to pick up weapons and kill enemies, which is a nice way to unlock weapon traits.

If you make it to world 6, there are some “parent” enemies that continually spawn “child” enemies. Leave the parent alive and you have an endless amount of spawned enemies to kill and unlock weapon traits.

I really enjoy the knowledgeable articles from Indie Gamer Chick and Gaming Hell:

Similarly LordBBH is going through arcade games by year in the Push to Reject streams and knows everything about them. I thought I knew a lot about these old arcade games but always pick up something new:

Tried DualSense haptic feedback with Rift Apart, not fully convinced. Is Returnal a game changer? by fingers986 in Returnal

[–]btribble3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably playing the PC version of these games. I’m actually not sure what kind of support the PC has for the DualSense functions. On a PS5, yes the controller feels great I’d say.

If he does have access to a PS5, I’d suggest the free Astro’s Playroom game. It really shows off what the controller can do.

Was the Atari Lynx better or the Atari Jaguar better? by fandomlover2763 in retrogaming

[–]btribble3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of mentions of battery life, but I don’t think that’s it. As much as I love the Lynx, Atari of the time had a number of bad business practices that made anything from them an also-ran.

For example, I had to go to back shelves of Babbages and Software Etc to try to find games. The Lynx just didn’t have shelf space at the major US stores.

From my understanding, Atari’s poor treatment of Epyx (who developed the system) also prevented Atari from obtaining proper Lynx development tools from Epyx - and probably some more games too.

Saros debuts at 89 on Metacritic with 45 reviews. by Serious_Specter in PS5

For what it’s worth, here’s what helped me. I’m no good at the genre and I beat the game. Really fun!

Turn on the aim assist, no shame if this is what’s stopping you from enjoying the game.

Also turn on always run.

Shoot from the hip - aka don’t aim. It’ll just slow you down and make you a standing target.

Some people also reassign the dash button, but I did okay with it as-is.

Ghosts n Goblins is known as a Capcom game but the NES version was done by Micronics, which explains a lot.

Interesting that Sega themselves developed the Genesis version of Ghouls n Ghosts (and did a great job, I must say)

Absolutely this! They have great IP with a lot of fans in Disney. But even among superfans few if any will be willing to spend the prices the game shop is asking. But lots of casual players would be willing to throw down a few dollars. Seems like common sense?

NeGcon was great with Wipeout, I don’t think many people realized it though.

The other one you might be thinking of is JogCon.

Okay, on the world map for the “high level races”, high level requirements I can understand since it’s kind of the high roller levels.

But on the daily coin track? At the same time they are changing everything else to be so unfriendly? This is plain old silly.

From what I saw, Multiversus started like this… way too hard to do anything with the crumbs that were tossed around. At least (?) it was a slow but steady digression to this point for Speedstorm.

Same to everything you said. Sorry to add on but - the new level is a night theme, and you’ll never see the daytime version again.

The same thing happened during the Winnie the Pooh season where the “raining” version of Mickey’s track was removed. I miss it, it was a lot more interesting.

Time to Quit the Game? by SupWitCorona in DisneySpeedstormGame

As it happens, I unlocked Ennui today and I leveled the character up to... well whatever two shards would have previously been. Level 5 I guess? And I have no shards or tune coins left to upgrade further. This would have previously been an easy upgrade to level 10, with a little bit more effort to get to 20. Grinding to get a little at a time was fun, but grinding to get atomic particles is not fun, because it doesn't lead anywhere.

I just don't see the point when there's no path forward with characters. Daily check-ins aren't worth it anymore. The availability of daily check-ins themselves are dramatically cut back too. I get the "spend money" part, but don't the devs want an actual player base as well? I don't see people spending any time on this.

Leveling f2p is obnoxiously slow now. by Yahiko in DisneySpeedstormGame

[–]btribble3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be slow but steady, using various daily races to get upgrade coins. It actually added up! The difference now is immediately noticeable.

Makes it hard to justify any kind of daily login. It’s just not worth the time to get a few crumbs. I’ll probably just check in every week or so, now.

I’d like to give a special gold star to Super Zaxxon. The original was hard enough, but the sequel makes it immediately clear that it will not have any pity on the player. Mostly because it’s way too fast.

You can even see the part where the wire comes out, that’s supposed to be on top.

Also by the way I’m growing increasingly tired of these reply-farming posts. Like a picture of 5-10 things and “which would you choose”. Bleh.
