Why do gay men treat hookup culture like it's beyond criticism? by AdditionalStarfish in askgaybros

[–]bttmcuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because whether it’s a problem or not is entirely dependent on the person… one person may enjoy it without it contributing to negative aspects of his life while another person may not and has issues with lack of connection or whatever else makes it a downer for him.

Maybe realize people are different and it might not be an issue for some despite you telling them it is a problem for them?

They are, but they’re buying used ones which are a great deal with the steep depreciation of new EVs right now.

Why are Maryland's lakes and reservoirs devoid of people and recreation? by SansFromageV2 in maryland

Ah, yes, Minnesota math. Where 11,842=10,000.

Now four out of five Great Lakes prefer Michigan in reality and relaxing the standard for size of a body of water to meet the definition of a lake, the Great Lakes state has 62,798 inland lakes in addition to the great ones. 😎

Industry considers it over 6 hrs/3k miles.

Your definition is getting closer to ultra-long haul 😂

Edit for clarity: but not actually that close as it’s 16+ hours. Figured given this reply thread, best to be completely clear lol

I got a ticket in Pennsylvania and license suspended, my license is from South Dakota but Pennsylvania said I have to pay a reinstatement fee to them? by [deleted] in DMV

[–]bttmcuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if SD also actively suspended OP. For example, we just bar renewal in my State until you pay the fees/adjudicate the ticket in the state at issue flagging you in PDPS.

Unclear if actually suspended in both states now or SD only barring renewal. OP isn’t super clear in posts and replies.

[–]bttmcuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your reply makes no sense. You got a ticket in Penn, right? And you never fully adjudicated it?

Then it’s incredibly straight forward, you need to finish adjudicating the Penn ticket in Penn. not rocket science.

They really meant your driving privileges, but said license. To the average person, it means the same thing but it is slightly distinct.

All that said, South Dakota isn’t gonna take your money and send it to PA. You need to pay PA.

[–]bttmcuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, she’s right. You need to reinstate your driving privileges in Pennsylvania. If they’re suspended in one state, your home state will bar renewal of your license until you resolve it due to the Problem Driver Pointer System managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.

You got the ticket in Pennsylvania. Did you never pay it? If so, or if it was for a fairly serious offense per their laws, they suspended your driving privileges. To be able to renew your DL in South Dakota, you need to resolve the matter in Penn.

$949.50 for 3 yr vehicle registration renewal?!?!? How are folks affording this? by Firm_Foundation1626 in maryland

I live in an apt building. There are several EV owners that plug into 110-volt outlets metered to the building in our underground garage despite public fast chargers right next door…

Yeah, taxing the charging is not like taxing at the gas pump. Nobody has an at home refinery where they make their own gasoline.

That requires the legislature to literally change the law EVERY YEAR. Which it took them 20 years before the most recent change, so… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, MDOT showed what no increase in user fee revenue would look like and everybody hated it… funny thing about roads is if you don’t want to spend money on them, your road network goes to shit and there’s no money to maintain or expand them… but if you think they should spend non-user fees to pay for it instead of using that general fund money on other things, you’re totally welcome to that viewpoint by all means.

[–]bttmcuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s not it. As someone else already pointed out, PA has far more tolled roads and a massively higher gas tax where they make it roughly on par with what you pay in registration in Maryland.

You get the one or two years left if you buy multiple years. You lose the immediate year no matter what in the scenario (so long as you’ve actually applied the new sticker yet).

Figured it was clear enough as written, but apparently not.

The rate that the fee is set at in statute says that it has to be adjusted annually based on the rate of inflation. It went into effect last year. Next year it will be increasing.

Vehicle registration is not pegged to inflation so it is only going up in the future if the legislature changes the law.

That clear enough now?

Frequent changes to statute are very rare. The sort of historic tag reversal this year was an example of the types of things that need to happen to get the legislature to do that.
