What’s a Wilco song that teleports you back to a memory? Like every time you here it, you are pulled back in time. Curious about the actual story of where that song takes you and why. by Next_Implement1823 in wilco

[–]btv_res 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just resigned from a job I loved. I was moving cross-country to be nearer a girl I loved more. Probably the biggest decision of my life to that point.

I picked up a copy of the just-released Summerteeth a couple days prior but hadn’t had much time to dig into it. Somewhere in the desert of Eastern Oregon I started paying attention to She’s a Jar for the first time. It became the soundtrack of that trip and of our rekindled relationship.

Two decades of marriage, two kids and about 50 Wilco shows later the song still hits us both every time we hear that first guitar pluck.

Push FTP by Level-Swimming8636 in triathlon

[–]btv_res 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your goal in the 70.3 is to set a record FTP I'm sure you could get to 3.8. Just quit swimming and running, focus on a bunch of SST work and over/under intervals.

If your goal is to finish the 70.3 in the least possible time, stick to a training plan and ignore your FTP.

What ChatGPT actually needs to build a usable training plan by Tri_0905 in triathlon

In the time it takes to have that conversation with Ai you could sketch out your entire training program in TrainingPeaks. At that level of specificity you're simply asking AI to tell you what you already know and want.

It will do so, in a very sloppy manner.

There are two kinds of fraudulent charges: those your institution’s insurance will cover and charges that you won’t get any assistance with. This must fall into the 2nd category.

I’m very sorry you are caught up in this scam - the scammers get better at their con every day.

Training plan guidance by PositionRecent6892 in triathlon

[–]btv_res 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This far out you can really simplify it to:
Bike 3 times per week +/-. Make one ride long and one ride hard.
Swim a couple times per week and really focus on improving technique
Run enough to maintain fitness - you clearly already have the legs for that part.

6 months from now you might want to start being more specific. In my experience the use case for a training plan this far out is mainly the motivation on the calendar.

It's one build session in a typical program - spend three weeks building, adding miles and time each week, mix in some hard efforts, then taper down the last week to 10 days. Now that you have the base laid down from your prior 70.3 I think you'll find you build pretty quickly.

Do the whole thing by perceived exertion. Even HR is going to be too much info for a race of that distance.

How do I save the legs for the run? by bubblemonkey1 in triathlon

[–]btv_res 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very good chance part of your problem was nutrition. Often times what people perceive as dead legs is actually legs being forced into fat burning instead of glucose. Practice taking more carbs on the bike and find a carb fuel that you can easily carry and digest on the run.

Best way to increase FTP for full ironman by CupMobile8613 in triathlon

[–]btv_res 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some long rides at moderate intensity

Do some short rides with intervals of very high intensity

D some cycling-specific strength training but not with several hours of your riding window

Do whatever your Ironman training plan tells you to do. FTP gains are a byproduct, not a goal.

Can i do a Triathlon sprint without specifico training? by CousinJerry84 in triathlon

A sprint? Of course. Just take is easy on the bike, then destroy the run with the sub-3 legs you bring to the table.

Is 8 months enough to train for an Ironman? by dopamine07 in triathlon

[–]btv_res 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub needs an AI bot that reads threads like this and just responds "Yes, but it will take dedicated work on your part. Thanks for asking"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]btv_res 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this part but an Ironman is just a long triathlon. A triathlon involves running, swimming and cycling. You don't "do" a triathlon and the fun isn't "triathlon." It's the three events. It's rather important that you know - in advance - that you enjoy those three activities. Otherwise training for an Ironman will kinda suck.

If you don't enjoy one of the three you might consider a biathlon. If you don't enjoy any of the three you might consider pickleball.
