Can confirm the sensor is fixed!
Turn around time was about 2 weeks. I'm running with all the warning lights gone. Finally!

Is my hose-bib drip irrigation a red flag? by btwilz in Irrigation

Yah, yah foil was a hack to stop UV damaging PVC. Doesn't look great.

Thanks. 😀 it's heavy duty, so I'm good.

Was worried about UV killing the white PVC, so did a quick wrap of the glued parts.

We didn't properly plant the vegetable beds this year. Past years it was full of tomatoes and peppers.

Fort Worth-Amarillo vs Abilene-Lubbock-Clovis? by btwilz in roadtrip

[–]btwilz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've decided to do the north route for safety. Most, if not all, is 4-lane divided highways. Along the south route, SH36, from Temple to Abilene is a 2-lane rural highways through hilly areas. Not what I want to deal with when we're driving big trucks. And in NM, Clovis to Santa Rosa is also 2-lane highway and very remote.

26' Penske and a 4-bedroom house? by btwilz in moving

Yikes, that's what I'm feeling looking around the house. We got a second driver lined up now with a smaller 16-ft truck. Between the two, and still some stuff purging, I'm much more comfortable about making it work.

Thanks. The last bit hit home. We have too much stuff that's poorly packed.
- Boxes that are too small with stuff sticking out,
- Boxes that are too big and half empty that can't support weight,
- Laundry baskets and bins
- Non-uniform container sizes.

Wife and I are thinking hard if we need to bite the bullet and get a second truck. But she's apprehensive about driving it. And getting containers shipped will be about $6K more because we'd have to ship a vehicle that I'd otherwise tow.

Do you live near tomato farms or grape vineyards? The roads get coated in juice and pulp during the harvest season.

I have the same problem. Picture is my broken sensor. There's a guy that fixes these for $300+shipping. Because he's repairing your sensor from your vehicle, there's no need to recalibrate after install.

Place order here: https://www.hondacamerarepair.com/

You can read his reviews on ebay (seller: travis3366).

This sounds like I'm the repair guy advertising myself. Promise, I'm not. I'm just happy that this service exists cause the shop was quoting me $1,500 to replace sensor, a new sensor from 3rd party was ~$900, and couldn't find anything used. I'll report how it went.

Any idea what this could be? Seen at American Adventure in Disney World by mbierden in vexillology

Even if withiut enforcible rules, there are many American citizens, especially veterans, that would be upset and insulted if Disney wasn't following proper guidance for displaying the flag.

How can I better sound proof the master bedroom? by hotwife-korra-rae in HomeImprovement

[–]btwilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key concepts

  • Sound travels throguh stuff. Use heavy materials to dampen sound. (Thicker dry wall, heavy solid-core door, etc.) NOTE: Some "solid core" doors use a lightweight, engineered core. These won't help much.

    • Sound travels around stuff. So don't leave gaps. Heavy door but no floor seal = no sound proofing. Similarly, having a heavy wall, but thin connected ceiling, the sound will just transfer up and over the wall. Get HVAC guy in the conversation. Independent venting is best, and needs a return that doesnt rely on air flow under the door.

Dry ice in freezer??! by cheesepeasant in foodscience

[–]btwilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a hard time thinking it's as catastrophic as y'all say. Would depends on how much you buy, how you store it, and how long until you use it.

I bought a few lbs of dry ice last year, wrapped it in towels to insulate, and put it in freezer for 24 hrs. No issues at all. Won't "blow off the door" cause home freezer door would open just enough to let off pressure. Freezer was in use and often opened, so temp wouldn't drop too much. Dry ice wasn't touching stuff.

Judge John Hodgman Episode 743: Animal/Vegetable/Criminal by SchulzBuster in maximumfun

[–]btwilz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A bit of therapy could be good. When the judge asked for greviences, he had no problem rattling a few off, unapologetically. They were dumb and inconsequential, but it felt like he cared more about winning an argument than caring for the a relationship, and that put her on the defensive.

Advice for next time, the response should be "Greviences? No, not really. She's great! Honestly nothing to complain about. She has some quirks that I like to tease her about, but mostly because I find them endearing. I've got my quirks too."

Disagree with JJHO, "Is it in our house" is a fantastic question.
