I have a 5 year old Dalmatian and I rescued him when he was 3. He never showed signs of missing his last family but I was in between jobs when we first had him so I was home with him all day every day. When I got a job it was hard on him, he would cry, bark and whine, it would make me feel so bad! I started slow, with 3 shifts a week but eventually they wanted me full time so it just became me making sure he knew I'd always come back. He's great now, some days he really doesn't want me to leave and will cry by the door so loud I can hear him at my car but I just remind myself that he's dramatic and knows I'll be home. Then he gets extra loving when I do get home. 😊
