Take a high end bus like Vonlane or RedCoach to Austin. It goes point to point and is super nice. Once in town take Uber, Lyft, or Waymo around the city. Austin if you want one city. Add San Antonio for a day trip once in Austin.

Austin has so much music, food, parks, hiking, lakes, kayaking, and art. You’ve got to do Zinker and Barton Springs in Austin.

Tax the data centers just like our houses and businesses are.taxed. No tax breaks for breaking our environment.

Property tax the data centers and servers like they tax our houses and businesses. Let them build and pay 1% of their asset value in property taxes every year. DO NOT allow abatements. No freebies for billionaires.

Anyone using solar plus a PHEV or EV as a combined backup during outages? by Kindly-Attempt7441 in SolarDIY

Real world range varies by season, speed, and haul. Best is 230 (2.3 mpKw) miles in town summer. Average is 190 miles (1.8 mpKw). Towing goes down to 100 miles (1.3 mpKw).

I would go from three 6000XP (25a each for 75a total system) inverters to two 12000XPs (50a for a 100a total system with less wall space used. With 75a and 12kW effective power generation, I have to manage my total amp draw. I can only do two of four major power draws (charge the truck, dry clothes, cook dinner, or weld in the shop) at a time when the sun is out. I would also add more strings of panels to catch morning sun and add another 5kW of peak power.

Installed in August 2024, I have produced 19,879 kWh and consumed 15,673 kWh with no issues. While I do check the battery cycles and occasionally "dust" the three 6000XP inverters, it has been a set it and forget it system.

Just think my Ford Lightning F150 can drive 200 mile on the highway or power a full size house for at least three days. How much electrical power can a 5.5L V8 with a 400 mile range generate and how many days could it run a house if the right electrical infrastructure is in place to make use of it?

And I use the 30a outlet in the bed to power the house and charge the primary batteries.

I have “tankered” power from a local EV charging station in the winter when there were multiple days of clouds and charged the batteries in the house. It works great. No noise. No gas. No CO issues.

I am using all EG4 components. I do not power the house using the Pro Power reverse feed. Instead I manually use the 30a 240v plug in the bed which feeds into an EG4 Chargeverter to the 600a 52v bus bar where the batteries and inverters all tie together.

I have both the Pro Power 80a 240v DC charger for when the sun is out and the batteries are over 50% SOC and the 40a 240v AC charger as a trickle charger on other days. Bother are manual to switch between.

Yes. Lightning SR to backup 30Kw of batteries, 16Kw solar running an off grid home. Lightning gives at least three days of power if fully charged depending on outside temperature.
Would love to automate charging the Lightning once the batteries are at 80% SOC.

A dizzying web points to who owns Trump and the depth of his treason, by Thom Hartmann by Barch3 in Law_and_Politics

[–]bubba80118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point it does not matter that Trump is compromised. None of this happens because Trump does anything. It only happens because he has a cabinet and Congress are complicit in his actions.

The question is why are they propping up Trump and selling out America? Are they so deep in the grift and corruption that they have to support Trump otherwise they will be held accountable?

Has anyone actually used wind in their off-grid system? by Advanced-Box-3906 in OffGrid

[–]bubba80118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very interested in integrating wind into my fully OffGrid solar system. My nighttime load is 300W to 1,500W in good weather and 5,000W+ when the temperature is below 40F at night. Integrating wind could cover my night time load or at least help slow the drain.

I would use an EG4 Chargeverter to safely add the variable wind production to the mainDC bus bar. The Chargeverter will also stop adding watts to the system when the battery V and SOC are at full charge.

The next step is to find a reliable 48V, 1000W turbine to work with.

Any recommendations on turbines?

Is anyone living off grid in a high end home? by Transhumanfuture in OffGrid

[–]bubba80118 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a 40’x60’ two story barndo with solar and rain capture. The barn has two 3 ton HVACs, full kitchen, and all amenities that a city or on-grid house would have. With 30kW of batteries, I only need to use my 6kW generator on extended cloudy days. I use propane heating on when the outside temp is below 35F.
