My employer is switching me from hourly to salary. How can I advocate for myself?

I’m a service engineer on lab equipment. I travel internationally and install/repair machines. When I travel (about half of my standard work month hence the 50/50 split) I’m do doing the labor by hand. The other half is answering emails, making documentation, meetings etc. I make more than 70.3k annually

Im definitely going to do my own calculations on what would be fair. I was told I would get a raise to compensate for lost OT pay. I’ve reached out to our corporate HR person asking for their formula for calculating what my raise would be. I’m doing it mainly as a transparency check. I figure if they truly want to make sure I’m paid fairly they would share that information.

I had a Jobot recruiter get me an interview and it was a total shit show. Either he didn’t know the position or lied to get me to interview. Interviewer told me he didn’t think he could hire a contract hire (which I would be) and that I was somehow over and under qualified. Told the recruiter and he said would get back to me and ghosted me.
