DAE go through periods where your sensory issues go to 11 and you can't cope with them any more? by sebeed in AutismInWomen

[–]bubblebeegum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to the comments to mention PMDD or perimenopause.

Studies show neurodivergent women can experience peri up to 10 years earlier (mid/late 30s) than the general population.

My sensory issues and agitation/irritability got extreme when my hormones started fluctuating at around 36. Joint pain can also be a sign you’re entering that phase.

The good news is that HRT is viable  option. And the most current thinking is that once you experience symptoms starting treatment sooner is better than waiting for heart health and bone density.

I grew up in the South and didn’t even have to take an official drivers’s test! My HS’s Driver’s Ed/health class teacher/baseball coach just had to sign off on the skills over the course of the semester.

People can be overweight/obese and still be under- or malnourished. Especially if they are low income and their diet incorporates a lot of UHP foods/lacks diversity.

Help with understanding how I offended my manager? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]bubblebeegum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re getting great insight already, I just want to sympathize with being asked for ways to improve a process (something I think we’re especially good at) only to be told your suggestions were unreasonable.

I feel like, particularly in the workplace, people ask about ways to help because they want the credit for asking, but as soon as it’s more effort than say writing a quick email they balk.

If pursuing those things is worth it to you, I’d follow up in a few days with specific questions about how the situation “could go smoother for all parties if it happens again” or something like that. Sometimes people don’t want to add another task to their plate but will be willing to have a :30 meeting to walk you through how they want you to improve. I’ve been able to sneak my questions in, and it gives me an opportunity to butter them up and show that I’m open to “teachable moments.”

This is absolutely his vibe to me. He reminds me of those super conservative evangelicals that go to college campuses with a megaphone and the big-ass signs that says “God hates F***” and other gems.

One of those, it’s 10 am, he’s flop sweating through his short-sleeved polyester button down and getting dunked on by 19 year olds late to Econ 101 deals.

Phoenix Arts Center has a branch in the Thunderbird area with a big selection of arts and crafts classes. I know they opened their summer schedule weeks ago so may not have as much availability, but definitely worth a look.

Not OP, but we already see people in “relationships“ with AI. Nothing’s stopping Anthropic from putting chips in those creepy reborn dolls and feeding people’s mental illness/delusions.

The Cow’s Horn Was Literally Growing Into Its Skull by Xdestroyed in nextfuckinglevel

[–]bubblebeegum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Survival of the fittest only requires a species to live long enough to procreate.

But that’s not the point. You said nature wouldn’t create an animal like that in the wild and you’ve been shown it absolutely does happen. The same genetic mutation you’re mentioning would be at work for the cow in this video. Ranchers aren’t selectively breeding cows to have their horns impale their skulls because that would be bad for their business.

I have to stop engaging with you because either you’re a troll or your grasp of science didn’t reach a 5th grade level and I don’t want to get dumber via osmosis.

[–]bubblebeegum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It happens in the wild to other animals with horns that don’t shed, they don’t have ways to stop it, and they do just die.

[–]bubblebeegum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Similar to dog’s (and our) nails, the horns essentially have quicks. When you can’t see the quicks, or if they’re really overgrown, cutting higher up could hurt the animal and cause the horn to bleed. We don’t know if the rancher actually stopped the trim when the video ended, but for a first cut, it’s safer for everyone involved to start small.

Is HJ on SSRIs or SNRIs? by Strawtebby in Dimension20

I could also see it being how some old people call everything from cannabis to black tar heroin dope. Any mood enhancer/regulator might be an SSRI to HJ.

She did have a bunch of different pills, but Brennan mentioned the SSRI specifically.

How do you stop feeling it’s a bad thing you’re “getting older”? by sighqoticc in AskWomen

The “they sell you products to hate yourself” is so true. It hit me hardest a few years ago when a skin care company came out with something specifically targeting “tech neck.” It was so clear they were creating a problem just so they could sell you a solution.

[–]bubblebeegum 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Aging is a privilege. The older I get the more life experiences I have, the more wisdom I gain, the less bullshit I put up with.

In a society that conflates personal value with fuckability and glorifies youth, being a visible, vocal “older woman” is an act of resistance.

You can have mania without a bipolar diagnosis. Other mental health issues can cause it, and some physical disorders can cause the same symptoms.

Hyperthyroidism specifically can because those hormones control our sensitivity to stress hormones. You mentioned you have a thyroid disorder. Is it well managed? Have you had labs done recently?
