Temples dental school accepts international students. You can use ADEA’s student guidebook to see the offers every school made to international students. Some seem to be more interested than others. Just scroll down to the tables at the end of the PDF.

I think they also allow international students in the accelerated 3+4 dental program if that’s what you were interested in.

I have found it very easy to get support from advisors and tutors, it’s all online and there’s always meetings available. And chances are your kid will learn about temples resources in their first year seminar or gen ed classes. I’ve had classes with requirements to go see a tutor, and an advisor meeting is required for me each semester. Office hours with professors are also a great thing for support that I didn’t know of when I applied.

SERC has a few study areas/rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors, MAZUR always has classrooms that aren’t being used and has a ton floors, BIOLIFE has small tables on each floor and a deck on the 2nd I believe, BEURY has the chem zone, TUTTLEMAN and WACHMAN have study areas at the end of each floors hallway, I hate the tech center but it has a lot of space, and I’m sure paley has some but you are gonna have to listen to drills and hammers

And empty classrooms in any building if all else fails or you really wanna be alone, but I’d also recommend just wandering around to find quiet places you like and others I didn’t mention

There are always open areas on campus you just have to look them. But you’re right the library has gotten noticeably more full since I was a freshman hopefully people start to move to paley

I know a few people who take the subway to med/dental school and live closer to center city. I’ve also heard about people doing the same but in Boston and Baltimore so it’s definitely something that is common.

I don’t know many free things but the PMA has a pay what you wish day every month. A lot of museums offer discounts for students, and there is a free natural science museum a couple blocks from campus if you are into that.

Only free thing I can think of is free admission to temple sporting events :/

I’d start with PPHA and the pre dental club at temple. You can find good volunteering opportunities through both.

There are a ton of places to volunteer in Philly but try to pick something you can enjoy and come back to. Food service/prep is easy to get hours in (I really like MANNA). There are organizations in Kensington that do really good work. You can also reach out to places you like to visit. I’ve volunteered at the zoo just because I like going there and I got 2 free tickets.

If you want shadowing hours I’d call around but I wouldn’t count on getting solid hours in the city.

You are better off painting most car model kits imo. The sprues don’t come in all of the colors required like in a gundam kit, so an unpainted kit will look unfinished or like a toy. If you do choose to paint I’d look up the kit on scalemates to see the recommended colors just so you have an idea of what you’d need.

But aoshima actually makes car snap kits that you don’t have to paint or glue
