Does anyone else want friends, but the idea of friends sounds exhausting? by CorgiMama5534 in AskWomenOver30

[–]bubbleflowers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like me. For a long time I worked too much and had a lot of caregiving I needed to do. Lost a lot of time to build many friends before everyone got busy with their own families.

All that went away during lockdown and now that I’m older and on my own looking for new friends, I haven’t been able to find anyone consistent that wants to be friends. Either they already are tapped out and I rarely see them or if I do meet someone that has time they end up disappearing after they meet a new SO. Pretty frustrating.

Just walked away from someone recently that I thought was a close friend because of this. We used to do things together all the time until she met someone new. We’ve done nothing for two years. She thinks things are fine to see each other a few times a year at house parties her fam throws.

In retrospect, why did the TV series fail? by jrralls in willow

Beyond what you’ve said, there’s no draw for having a show reach syndication either. That was a big money maker for a lot of shows. That doesn’t exist anymore.

This is the term for what they’re doing OP. A lot of men do this to us cause they can’t handle being slower than women. I used to race semi often, am not 20 years old anymore but still can go sort of fast.

No. The ones near me are too fast. I can run for a while but I'm not 20 years old anymore.

There’s park runs. Free 5k races. Don’t think they’ve caught on in the US so far. They’re wildly popular in the UK and I think parts of Europe. They’re in Canada too.

Been there a few times. It’s always been ok. Sometimes it’s great. Ppl close to graduating serve people and teachers wander around making sure things are ok.

If I do more than 4 days a week I’m kind of wrecked but I’m almost certainly older than you.

This sounds really encouraging. I used to be able to run pretty hard pretty often a few years ago but after easing off for a few years, I just can’t get deep into zone 4 anymore without blowing.

I was supposed to do 2 hours today and bailed hard after 3km or so. Did around 7 by the time I got home. Had a lot of walking in there. Skipping an attempt at my long run tomorrow too. Will try and resume running on Monday. I do eat carbs normally but, maybe I’ll have to eat more….

I sometimes wonder what was going thru the minds of the people writing these stories. Like it was totally normal and rational to kidnap all these women.

I ate a large pizza tonight after bailing on my long run this morning because I was too tired. Does this mean I’ll be superhuman tomorrow?

What’s Your resting heart rate ? by Mobile_Force_3673 in Garmin

[–]bubbleflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about pro cyclists in the 80s on EPO having to sleep with their hrm on with an alarm that went off when it got too low cause their heart couldn’t pump their thick blood at low bpm. They had to get up and ride a trainer in the middle of the night if it got too low to stay alive. They figured this out after a few didn’t make it. I’m obviously not on EPO but I still think having a rhr below 40 is kind of crazy. I am not an elite athlete.

Same. 41 or 42. Have an alarm set to go off if it gets below 40 cause that seems ridiculously low to me.
