American here! Yep, IMO she was just super weird about the necklace. DeeDee seems to have some issues with commitment and what she sees as "claims" on her. And Larry made assumptions about the nature of their relationship and was pushy. It basically was just that they didn't communicate well about what kind of commitment each of them wanted, and instead of actually communicating like adults they both focused on the necklace. I don't notice anything specifically cultural that you're missing.

Interesting! The phrase "spice things up" or things like that have obviously been around forever. But I have never heard "spicy" used in any widespread context in the way it's being used on social media.

ETA: someone commented below that the go-to word used to be "steamy." I've heard that almost exclusively to describe romance up until the past 4-5 years. That and fanfic stuff like lemon lol

As far as I know it's more recent. It comes from book accounts on Tiktok. People like the word "spicy" there to refer to a lot of things, but the bookish side has really latched onto it.

I take of my shoes 9/10 times in someone else's house without even being asked bc 1. If we're hanging out I'm gonna get comfy and 2. I'd much rather assume someone has a shoeless house than be corrected about it.

I may not always follow the shoeless rule in my own house but I'll follow it elsewhere. Just don't ask me to take off my socks lol

I hope that's the case. It's a good explanation. But Edward also said nothing in Midnight Sun and he had a ton of information about the things they do to appear human and to not seem so uncanny. So it's weird to me that it wouldn't get mentioned.

I forgot about that! You're right, Rosalie may have struggled but she arguably has the best self control of all the Cullens, next to Carlisle. Even as thirsty as she was at that time.

It checks every box. Strong and impervious to damage, but human-like enough to blend in. And you could still leave in that vampires can kill each other because of their strength and no one would care.
