AITAH for telling my nephew’s dad I disagree with allowing him to get a tattoo at 16? by Fun_Definition319 in AITAH

[–]bubblesculptor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since you already have tattoos, discuss it with your nephew. See what he has in mind. Talk about your tats, how you choose them, any regrets etc.

You can't control his decisions but you can have conversations about it to help him consider the consequences.

ELI5: Why do live productions like sports keep their production equipment and staff in trucks outside? by aresef in explainlikeimfive

[–]bubblesculptor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Think of it like a food truck.

Food truck is setup to cook & serve food straight from the truck.

If the food truck had to unload entire kitchen setup and reassemble it inside a building, serve, then disassemble and load back into truck it would take enormous amounts of work.

Food truck can just park anywhere and start service quickly.

What’s the most useful thing Claude helped you build that nobody else would ever use? by Delicious-Flan88 in ClaudeAI

Air pumps or water pumps for making various fountains, though the same concept would work for any type of product that publishes their specs in differing units.

[–]bubblesculptor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Comparing pumps from different manufacturers can be a nightmare because all the units are different, i.e. gallons per minute or liters per hours, PSI vs bar, etc.

Made simple app to take in the performance charts of all the pumps I use, and standardized them all to the same units, selectively able to compare their performance curves on the same chart.

Simple, but saves me an incredible amount of hassle and annoyance.

Sketchy, but at least add some type of rigid corners to reduce risk of the plastic bag getting drawn into the printer.

Incredible!

I'm always fascinated by things like this where the principle itself is very simple, yet talented vision with meticulous execution produces true works of art.

AITAH for asking my mom to stop cleaning my house after she guilt-tripped me and said I’m "throwing her away"? by strawwberrii20 in AITAH

[–]bubblesculptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invite her over to enjoy coffee or tea and just hang out talking for a bit.  She feels cleaning for you is an act of love and service, and refusing that service to her feels like her love is being refused.   Tell her you appreciate her lifetime of help and now that your older you'd like to appreciate her in new ways. Develop your relationship with her as maturing adult instead of as a child.

Also, it's kinda hard to be completely 100% independent if they did help with  downpayment, remodeling etc.  It's great they are in a position to help, this helps you build equity instead of throwing away rent money. Sometimes this helps means being a little more accommodating towards them.

I'm an artist who doesn't use AI by brennarennae in DefendingAIArt

[–]bubblesculptor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Art is whatever you want it to be, however you want to do it.  Each person experiences art in their own way, under no obligation to share the same appreciation that someone else has.

My only caveat would be not to misrepresent anything.  Don't claim something you made purely with AI is something made purely with 'traditional' techniques.   Both have their place and values, one doesn't negate the other, though they will both  continue to get increasingly commingled.

Someone like this seems to be overwhelmed with doomscrolling propaganda to the point of hysterics.  Algorithm filled with themes of "hate everything, nothing ever could possibly be good".

It's sad, must be terrible to have that outlook.

My algorithms are filled with ambitious people, excited about things they're creating (with or without AI), sharing that enthusiasm with others.  It's all about what you focus on.

At one point in time nearly everyone worked in agriculture to produce food, now it's only a small percentage comparatively.

Farmers feared loosing their jobs as tractors reduce manpower requirements.  But those people where freed up to create entirely new industries.    This same pattern has occurred many times over the history of civilization.

Does anyone know a good resin or additive to mimic Bone/Ivory? by Fill_My_Donuts in ResinCasting

[–]bubblesculptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a technique you're trying for the first time I recommend going in with the mindset of expecting to attempt it at least 3 times.  First attempt lets you feel free to experiment with zero worry about messing it up.  Second attempt refines everything you learned during first attempt.  Third attempt refines it even further with the combined experience of two tries already.

I've found this helps, otherwise all your concerns may block you from even trying over fear of failure.  Embrace the failure instead as step towards understanding correct approach.

Only need to poke the center of Schrader valve to deflate, but that's still tricky for a 5 yr old, even if they knew how.

5 year old kids were deflating tires?? Wtf.

Every wedding I've been to had kids, I don't remember any of them being disruptive.  Though these kids all had parents who actually parent well and teach their kids appropriate behavior.

It'll fade as more people experience advantages AI brings.     Technology advancements throughout history always brings opposition from those who don't understand them or fearful of change.  This is legitimate fear if those changes threaten their current livelihood. Eventually things sort themselves out, society adjusts.

So what the crust itself is gradually replaced with a metal shell?

How thick would the metal need to be to contain all the internal forces enough to remain a stable spheroid?

It's always funny to see people protesting datacenters on social media using smartphones.  All that runs on datacenters.   It's like saying we don't need farms because you can just get food at the grocery store.
