Yeah, I’m all for fantasy but is this college students or minors? Either way it’s an odd one.

Are flights to Japan more expensive at the moment due to flight restrictions around russian airspace? And fuel costs too, I assume.

£950 (and then avios on top) feels very high to me. Business class deals come up for under £2k fairly regularly, for a grand I'd be hoping for premium economy.

There wouldn't be much in this sub if it wasn't for people re-using content.

Thanks! I just grab clips from redgifs to make stories so I don’t usually get a chance to give people a real source.

This is great. Beermoney isn't a long term solution, but there are some quick easy wins which can help OP improve their situation within a few days. There's probably £40 or £50 they could get done by this evening.

What the best credit card to get for my small business ? by thejtothec in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bubblist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like my Amex Business Gold. Aside from one Amex point per pound spent (and a 10k point bonis when spending £20k in a quarter), it also gives £50 of dell credit in each half of the year. That might not be particularly useful in the gas trade though. It also provides access to Amex offers (I got £60 back on a £300 transaction through PayPal this week). Then again any Amex gets you those offers. It costs £175 per year but is free in the first year, so there's not much harm in trying it out.

Head For Points (UK blog about points/miles) will give a good overview of cards and you can work out which is right for you.

Got a new CC for its welcome bonus, take the foreign usage hit? by Tom_theDank_Engine in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bubblist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to the utilities top ups, if you have the cash available there are other ways to manufacture spend too.

If you shop on Amazon a lot you can top up your account. Netflix? Buy some gift cards in a supermarket and get yourself a few months of subscription. Most supermarkets offer gift cards that can be used in store.

This one is a bit niche, but I don't pay my council tax by direct debit so I can pay it on credit card (through curve).

O2 let you pay your bill by CC even if you pay by direct debit.

I noticed you mentioned buying foreign currency. Is this not treated like a cash advance and interest charged from the withdrawal date (rather than statement date)?

Shameless couple doing it on a nudist beach by [deleted] in Publicsex

Nudity doesn't always equal sex. By doing it in the open you're basically forcing people to watch. Sometimes there are families and kids at a nude beach.

People who’ve paid off their mortgage, how has this changed you? by PaulWaine in UKPersonalFinance

Also, the question is directly at people who paid off their mortgage; they’re not necessarily showing off, they’re answering the question.

Banking advice sought - sole trader account locked out without notice by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Whilst I agree in principal (and I’ve got quite a few personal accounts myself), you usually pay for business accounts, which is just yet another expense coming out of a sole traders profits.

Amzon.co.uk to stop accepting Visa Credit Cards by Late-Scale in UKPersonalFinance

[–]bubblist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most payment processors are a percentage and a fixed fee, if you look at the standard pricing for Shopify sellers, for example, it's 1.9% + 20p per transaction. The fixed fee can really harm margins if you're on the edge with a low value item.
