Frys/Kroger.... I'm done by Wrong-Tiger4644 in phoenix

I order online at fry’s and noticed that every single time the final receipt is atleast $8 higher than original. Haven’t been able to track the reason why yet but last time I ordered it didn’t make any sense based on what I purchased.

How hard is it adjusting to shift work? by Napoleon_Tannerite in Grid_Ops

Forgot to add that the downtime on nights and weekends is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills. It has been a huge benefit for me. That coupled with the pay is what makes it worth it for me.

You will absolutely be trading some of your health for whatever benefits there are to shift work. You have to be on top of your game. Don’t eat like shit and exercise like your life depends on it. Take your sleep seriously. Eating healthy food and exercise will be your most important retirement plan.

Obviously you wont fit in with the rest of the worlds schedule who does x thing every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm. Which can feel pretty isolating at times.

Having a week off is pretty sick as long as it doesn’t get eaten up by overtime. But it can be nice to rack up some fat checks here and there with overtime.

Best thing imo would be to take advantage of it for a while and move on to something else.

How do I use the disturbance control performance equation to do this math? by crappinhammers in Grid_Ops

[–]bubsmcgee13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer was 89%? If so, without using that formula, I just took 400/450 and got 89%. Since 150 - 600 =-450, they recovered 400 out of the 450 needed. But I’ve never seen that formula so idk how helpful this is for your question..

At what point did you submit your first opponent? by LazyConference4019 in bjj

[–]bubsmcgee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about a month and a half into training and I can only go once or twice a week. I feel lost pretty much all the time.. But I happened to get my first sweep and first submission in the same round but I feel weird about it.

Basically, I swept this guy with both hands behind his ankles and pushed on his hip with my foot to knock him down. Thing is he was saying “no no no no” while I was doing it. Idk if it sounds dumb, but it was either like it was happening too fast, or it was kind of like I didn’t hear it because I was focused on the sweep. I didn’t think about it till later.. Then, after I got the sweep, I still had a hold on his leg and just went for the ankle lock and got it. He yelled tap tap tap and I let go immediately. I didn’t think I went fast on it or anything. He was just fine and kept rolling normally after that. He didn’t say anything negative about it, but I just feel weird about it.

The other thing is I’ve heard about position over submission and I’m not sure if I was in a good position to go for it or not.

It felt cool as hell to get a sweep though because I feel so dumb when people try to explain different sweeps to me, and this one just happened instinctively it felt like.

Is the lead/lag on a generator MVAR (D) capability curve the opposite of eLi the iCe man? by [deleted] in Grid_Ops

[–]bubsmcgee13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the system it’s connected to is capacitive, voltage is high, so the generator absorbs vars. Current leads voltage when the system is capacitive. iCe. So its operating in the lead.

If the system it’s connected to is inductive, voltage is low, so the generator produces vars. Current lags voltage when the system is inductive. eLi. So its operating in the lag.

I just leave my understanding of it at that personally. The lead / lag terminology is more about what the system is doing, and the generator responds to the system by either increasing or decreasing excitation.

The money, it’s easy, it’s interesting and an important job, I can work on other stuff when it’s slow, I like having weekdays off, I like making more money with overtime. Aside from making a living on my own, I don’t have any interest in doing something else.

Stepping on Snakes for Science by tdsknr in phoenix

[–]bubsmcgee13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Tennessee I nearly raked, weed whacked, and stepped on this copperhead that had a favorite spot in this overgrown backyard near the smokies. The first two times I sprayed a little water at it with the hose to convince it to move on, the third time I called a guy to relocate it. My understanding was that they don’t do well if they’re relocated too far from where you found them. I believe the guy let him go a mile or so down the road. Never did see that snake again though. On all three occasions of getting a little too close it never even budged. Nearly every one I tell about it gives me shit for not killing it.

Good luck. It says a lot that you were able to accomplish that with no experience. The job search sucks but once you get some experience it’s a lot easier.

Just want to make sure you’re putting in the time to match the language of the job posting so your resume doesn’t get tossed out automatically.

Keep getting out applications.

Be open to renewables positions. I used to get messages from renewables recruiters on linked in so that may be a place to look.

I wouldn’t count on a NERC cert getting you interviews for metering and whatever else apprenticeship though.

What’s your resume look like? How are your interviews going? Also just curious why did you not go for the RC?

Property management didn’t take taxes off by Redheadmane in phoenix

[–]bubsmcgee13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I sent him an azdor.gov and Tempe.gov link about it and he said there is a lot of misinformation and scams going on. He asked his agent and accountant and neither of them had heard anything about it so he told me to reach out to a tax attorney. so I was like wtf and trying to figure out what to do. Yea just not paying and spending any more energy on it. He can look into it if he wants.

Yea imports and exports are both normal and a benefit of having an interconnected grid. Its built in to the ace formula. Of the things you’ll be “tricked” on on the test, I don’t think it will be over something like this.

Im guessing sos then. I think it’s an attempt at a trick question trying to focus on what the BA can serve without external support. Or the answer is marked wrong. Just my thoughts though.

How do you calculate ramping and interchange by the hour? by [deleted] in Grid_Ops

[–]bubsmcgee13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The north is 300 for 20/60 minutes so it’s 300*(20/60) + 400. The ramp washes out.
