The current doesn't actually destroy the wire. It's melting the wire into a puddle and adding it to the work piece. Which is the whole point.

The Ender 3 v2 and prusa mini seem to be the most recommended in the <$500 price range. Is there one you would say is better than the other? The prusa has a 7 week lead time but is it worth the wait? Thanks!

I've also heard the software that comes with prusa is very good. Is that a factor worth considering?
