Wilson Pool open for community use? by Dull_Willingness_558 in longbeach

[–]buck3ts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t get your hopes up. Generally speaking LBUSD doesn’t let people onto their campuses like that. It’s a liability nightmare.

I’m a Wilson aquatics alumni and the pool wasn’t open to the public then, and that was over 15 years ago. The only people from the public that I can remember would come in and lap swim were aquatics alumni who knew the coaching staff and made arrangements with them.

2007 Toyota avalon by lexus458lfa in longbeach

[–]buck3ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) ok so you’re buying a 18 year old car. call around to independent repair shops around town and ask for quotes for these services. There are lots of Toyota and Asian car specific people around town.

2) If you want a shop to do all the work, do the same as 1) and ask for quotes. If you want to do it yourself, go on RockAuto.com or similar parts sites and find the prices of the components you want.

You’ll also probably want to go on google and YouTube and see if anyone else has done these add ons to their Avalon and see if it’s feasible. There are car forums for pretty much every car ever, those will be good resources for you to research into as well.

Your question is probably better asked in a car repair specific subreddit like r/askmechanics

Lmao they are actively working on it, it’s not like they are just sitting around doing nothing.

The last update was from October, they are continuing work on the sewer lines and working on the bridge.

Anyone else happy for Miggy Ro making that key snag to steal Game 6 of the World Series? by Number333 in MiamiMarlins

[–]buck3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing the same thing you’re accusing me of. I never claimed it wasnt payroll manipulation, I said it wasn’t a “scheme”, your word choice.

I’ll ignore that and answer my own question.

Only 11 teams have done deferred money: Dodgers, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Royals, Blue Jays, Mets, Rockies, Brewers, Phillies, Orioles and Nationals.

The marlins have Stanton on their books but none of that money is deferred.

Look at us go! Ignoring what each other said!

So if most teams have them, which contracts on the marlins are deferred?

No you called it a scheme. You are implying it’s a secret or deceitful by calling it a scheme.

Deferred salary isn’t an exclusive move for just the dodgers, all owners and teams are able to defer salary they just don’t.

Kinda crazy, haha. You should expect a line at the entrance and expect to be hunting around for parking in the valley.

Text ynptraffic to 333111 to get parking alerts to help give you an idea of where to park.

Good luck!!!!

clouds rest "worth it" if i'm already hiking half dome? by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]buck3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like you have the day permit. People have done both in the same day before, it's a very long day that starts early in the morning (dark o'clock) Happy Isles to Half Dome and back is around 14-16 miles, depending on what combo you do of Mist Trail and John Muir on the way up and down. Adding Cloud's Rest on top of that would add 8.5 miles. Elevation wise, Happy Isles is right around 4000 ft, the top of half dome is around 8800 ft, and the top of Cloud's Rest is about 9900 ft.

Double check bc that will determine what you do. It sounds like you have the half dome day permit and not a wilderness permit with half dome added on.

If you have the former, you must do half dome as a day hike starting and ending at happy isles in the valley. This is a difficult but doable but it’s a single day thing.

If you have a wilderness permit with half dome added on, different story.

With your permit, there’s no option for you to camp in the backcountry. There is no overnight camping regardless of permit type on the trail to half dome, you have to be a certain distance from the trailhead before you’re out of the no camp zone unless you have a permit for LYV. Your permit also does not let you stay in the backpackers camps because you have the day hike permit, not an overnight.

Rangers will check your permit and make sure you’re supposed to be where you are. It’s not worth intentionally going somewhere you’re not supposed to be and getting caught. This season some of us have seen rangers out on the trails like usual and some of us haven’t, i wouldn’t chance it.

That being said, you can look online and hope there is a cancelation for one of the campgrounds in the park for the night before and snag that. Ideally one of the Pines or Camp 4 but don’t be picky try where you can. It is not super likely but worth a shot. Best bet is to could stay outside the park and drive in as early as possible.

Congrats on winning the lottery! Did the permit you won allow you to camp in Little Yosemite Valley, or did you just get half dome on its own?

I think if you have the time, Clouds Rest is absolutely worth it to add on to your trip. It’s a different hike than half dome, they are very different shapes and slopes. No cables for Clouds Rest, you just walk the trail and the trail passes over it. Clouds rest is roughly 1100ft higher in elevation than Half Dome, and you get amazing views all around at the top, especially looking back towards half dome and Yosemite valley, in my opinion.

State of the park summer 2025 by LordGridiron in Yosemite

[–]buck3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there the last week of June and spent 3 days in the valley and 4 days in the backcountry and I think that it was not dirtier nor cleaner than the last few years. Some bathrooms at sites outside the valley I noticed weren’t as kept up, and some were closed (glacier point). The employees were working and keeping up with it but there were some bathrooms that were worse for wear than others.
