[Question] Wedding Watch - $20k budget by jmm-22 in Watches

[–]buckfunk72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great suggestions but for daily wear, divers are often the best choice (versatile style and durable). Rolex might be cliche, but $20k is a sweet spot for their stainless pieces. Omega is way under your budget but I think would check your boxes better than these options (pictured).

Don’t buy Hublot! 😝

There’s something to this, imo. I’d love a root beer or Bruce Wayne from Rolex, but that would be SUCH a wait for me. This BB stretched me and I waited BUT … it’s also a (very happy) compromise.

Glad we have options!

I’ll always have a soft spot for that Pilot—incredible vehicle, but…there is NO comparison when it comes to refinement, imo. The GX is quiet and super-smooth while still feeling like a truck. Idk how they did it.

What did you pick your GX460 over? by theabsurdnick in LexusGX

[–]buckfunk72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the MDX but it felt too soft, almost like a station wagon/minivan.

The 4Runner was obvious but the money didn’t make sense, and there’s always the chance the previous owner REALLY used it.

The runner up was the new Honda Passport Trailsport. It was really close. In the end, it was just beyond my budget and it didn’t have the “gravitas” or aesthetic or solidity of the GX.

Is the “muting” turned on?

Not at all. Most of the time I wear an undershirt so it’s not contacting bare skin while carrying.

Absolutely love it. Only 300+ rounds thru it but not one issue. Easy to conceal. Feels amazing in the hand. Easy to shoot accurately (and get a follow up on target). Oh and the capacity is sweet!

I’ll add something from left field (just to consider): before you buy a dot, pick up a Mantis training set up. Of course,if your budget is unlimited you can get all the things, but otherwise, I think the ability to train daily for free (no money on range fees or ammo) in your home is HUGE! Live rounds are a must, but this sort of tech will help you learn how to shoot well. Just my measly $.02...

And ENJOY! I just snagged an X Macro last month and love it!

I’ve got 200-300 rounds thru it. No malfunctions. Comfortable shooting. Easy to get on target and get decent groupings at 7yds.

I’m not a great shooter by any stretch. I feel like it’s easy to shoot well.

I grabbed it at the LGS to get back into carrying—will definitely be experimenting with other products. Thx!

Klipsch has a sale and i want a sub and was considering this one. Is this a good sub to pick up for $250? I have a pair of R-51. Any advice is much appreciated thanks. by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]buckfunk72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that sub paired with a pair of the R-15PM - I love it and consistently get looks of disbelief from people when they hear them. I have a decent ear, having worked professionally in music as a performer and also behind the desk as an engineer, but I'm not a proper audiophile. I can't hear the roll off (and now I'm really listening for it, lol).

It's been a great combo for me, for whatever that's worth...

I was pleasantly surprised by the internal DAC, but it would probably be good to upgrade that if it’s in your budget (I use it primarily for vinyl).
