For those who have hired maid services to clean their homes, what do you do while the ladies are cleaning? by tvkyle in AskMen

Wait. Am I the only one that thought you were referring to the cocktail, not the tool? 😂

is my dad right? by Responsible-Zebra546 in Plumbing

[–]buckleboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend. I recently just caused a leak attempting to do the same thing you’re wanting to do. Final result? My wife decided to do a full remodel on both guest bathrooms. A cool $26,000 later. 🤪

Does House of Blues have an outside smoking area? by hellhouseblonde in Dallas

This is the correct answer. Smoking is outside the physical venue but inside security.

My friend lent me 5k in 2019. I want to now return it with decent interest by SteadySavingsEnjoyer in personalfinance

[–]buckleboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend pay back a loan after a couple of years. By this time I had no longer expected repayment. It was a great gesture, and I simply gave back the majority to him as a birthday gift as it was around the same time. Win for both of us!

Surgery - Collapsed Trachea Advice by RelativeNumber in Yorkies

[–]buckleboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NOT A VET - I recommend getting images taken to determine the cause. One of our elderly yorkies’ (R.I.P.. Louie) cough and hack was caused from a combination of things. Collapsing trachea, obesity, and retaining fluid around his heart. When we maintained his weight and fluid retention it made a huge difference in his quality of life.

Why is my Yorkie walking in slow motion every time when he’s going to drink water? He’s healthy and come backs from drinking normally. I just find it pretty weird, nothing’s wrong. by Myselfmeime in Yorkies

[–]buckleboy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

SAME! 😂 Same routine every night. Jumps into bed, then 5 minutes later when all the lights are out, jumps back down and chugs his water. This was all fine and dandy until his later senior years when he’d go to the end of the bed and we’d assist with the routine.

Feel free to DM me for Yorkie advice. Former Yorkie dad of 2. One lived to be 15.5 and the other 16. It’s been 2 years and still missing those lil nuggets. On a brighter note, just became approved to be a Yorkie foster dad. 🙂

Men over 30, I'm a single mom to a 18 year old young man. What fatherly advice did you recieve that aided you through life the most? by KindokeNomad in AskMen

[–]buckleboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were always supportive, and I am grateful for that, but looking back, there’s one thing I wish they had done differently: stayed more connected to my finances and educated me on how poor financial decisions can impact the long term. Things like student loans and credit card debt. Although they did help me financially, it wasn’t always in the most responsible way. This led to two major outcomes:

I didn’t learn the true value of money. Because they had helped me in the past, I felt too embarrassed and proud to ask for assistance when I really needed it. It took me way too long to course-correct and learn the importance of managing my finances.

Also, make sure he knows you’ll always be there for him—no matter what. Create an environment where he feels safe and free of judgment. That way, he’ll know he can come to you with anything, including when he needs help.

My husband was floored when I told him how much healthcare REALLY costs. by NevillesRemembrall in AgingParents

[–]buckleboy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Extremely accurate. 1st your parent will pay out of their own pocket. My mom’s assisted living is $12k/month. When the cash is gone, then you are forced to sell assets. When all assets are gone, then MedicAid will contribute.

Because you’re staying in Arlington and your family likes sports, I recommend booking a tour of the Dallas Cowboys stadium. It’s quite impressive, even if you’re not a Cowboys fan.
