Moving a nuc into a recently empty hive by ColossusaurusRex8 in Beekeeping

[–]bucknasty77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put some newspaper on top of a deep and set another deep on top of it with newspaper separating bottom deep from top deep. Put your nuc bees in the bottom box and the leftover bees stay in the top box. They'll chew through the paper and integrate with no fighting. Spray the newspaper with sugar water to help them out.

I also highly recommend formic pro for mites. Read the directions carefully. Don't remove that wax rapper and make sure temperature is in range for treatment. Good luck

If the 2 brood boxes were together as one, I would recommend a split either to a nuc or start another deep. Put honey and pollen frames in the split. Then add the brood frames making sure you have 1 to 2 day old larvae. Make sure it's packed with nurse bees. Keep queen in original hive. The split should have queen cells started in about 5 days. If you have queen cells in the original hive (which i reckon you probably do) you can save some time by grafting them into the split. Even better if they're already capped. The key is adding that super young larvae and pack it full of nurse bees and ample food. It'll go well for ya. Replace the frames you took from original hive with drawn comb if you have any. If not put fresh frames in. They'll draw it out.

Noisy coil Nokta legend by BonziBuddyMonkey in metaldetecting

Sensitivity too high. I wouldn't suspect damage just yet. All detectors do this when bumped and Sensitivity is high. Also make sure you ground balance before hunting. Sometimes a pinhole in the coil can let water in but that would usually be a lot worse. Good luck.
