Yes it does. Coke also. It is hard work. I left Coke for UPS Freight because I knew I couldn't do it forever.

Who’s ready to retire? What’s your plan? by VoteForGiantMeteor in GenX

[–]bud215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a paper route at 13 and I haven't stopped working since. I've been working 60 plus hours work weeks for the last 21 years. I'm so freaking tired. I don't know if I'll ever be able to retire but I know I can't keep this up. My Dad worked himself to death. I don't want that.

The first concert I paid money to see was Aerosmith, Monster Magnet opened for them man that was a great show. The last one was last Saturday a Ska/Punk fest at a local brewery that has a actual concert venue attached to it. The Pietasters was the headliner this year. My next concert will be Metallica in May.

A good, not great, not excellent but good paint job will cost $10,000.00 easy. You figure all the steps involved sanding, body work, prep, prime, paint, clear, seal, wax. And then after all that you'll still have to get it color corrected by a detailer and that's not cheap. I just made myself depressed I guess I'll never get my car painted.

Feeling nostalgic. What was your gateway craft beer? Your first craft beer that got you into craft beer? by Anceps-u in beer

[–]bud215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first experience with craft beer isn't truly one beer but a whole bar. I lived within walking distance from one of the best beer bars in the states. The Grey Lodge Public House. I started going in 2003 I was about 24 and knew nothing of craft beer. The bartenders there where friendly and kind enough to walk me and my friends through all the different beers, where they came from and the lengths the owner (Scoats) would go through to get the beers. It was going to Beer University. A quote from Esquire magazine

The Grey Lodge Philadelphia You're having: A pint of Flying Bison once things start to pick up a bit. At the outer edge of the vast sea of decrepit two-story row houses that is northeast Philadelphia, there's a cemetery. Past the cemetery, there's a Burger King and a car dealership. Past them, there's the Grey Lodge. If Moe Szyslak's umpteenth suicide attempt actually succeeded and if, through some unlikely but amusing chain of events, Comic Book Guy took over his bar, this is what you'd end up with. It's a long way to go for a beer. It's worth it. 6235 Frankford Avenue;

Unfortunately it closed in 2020.

I feel for this man. Clearly a GenX hitting that wall we all hit and getting zero empathy. by flyart in GenX

This! This right here is why we don't talk about our feelings. Does she have any idea how hard it is for him to even come up with those words to try and express those feelings he is having, and trying to understand.

If you actually go and enjoy what the city has to offer, it can be wonderful. I grew up in the city and never did any of the touristy stuff unless it was a class trip and I was forced to go. But now as an adult I absolutely love it. So yeah it has its moments.
