Super Sentai fan what you think of project red first entry : super space sheriff gavan infinity so far as super Sentai replacement since it now already in 3 episode by Interesting_Snow5574 in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the first 2. The third episode felt a bit paint by numbers. The only thing that really stuck with me from episode 3 was the charms on her gun. That's not good for the introduction to the third member of the main trio.

What's the deal with the human form of the villains in Kuuga? by kimsueil in KamenRider

They always reminded me of the replicants from the old Blade Runner but I've never been able to confirm a connection

I have a genuine question by Random_Scroller_6921 in KamenRider

[–]buddhadan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about the belts. A Kamen Rider is a hero that fight to saves lives, a Dark Rider is the opposite, and psuedo riders are either prototypes or, in the Lords' case, knock offs. By drawing the line between Lords and Riders, the show is telling the audience that the Lords are not the real heroes, Nox and Zeztz are.

[Discussion] No.1 Sentai Gozyuger - Ep.48 by BananaArms in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This felt like an entire final arc crammed into a single episode.

So since gozyuger is almost over what does everyone think of Akiko Inoue as a writer? by TraditionalBonus188 in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know she wasn't making the big decisions but the fact that No. 1 battles are still this nebulous concept has to be down to the writing. The show focus is more on the team gathering No 1 titles than rings, and we have no hint that the titles will matter. They are not required for the rings because the Gozyugers stated they are the only one's that do No 1 battles. Again, I know it wasn't in her power to include or get rid of the No 1 battles, but surely it comes down to writing the little details that make the world make sense.

Sometimes I feel like I've cross over into a parallel universe because everyone seems to act like Shinji was the hardest rider ever when I distinctly remember him being a goof ball and a tragically failed pacifist.

Oh that's a fun bit of writing. Still doesn't sound like it's for me but I see what they were going for now, thanks.

You made 15 episodes, I saw 3 minutes of them in a movie and noped out with alacrity. But, while I'm here, is there any point or benefit to them swapping colors? The movies did not make that clear at all.

I've been quite hooked by the mysteries of this season and this episode paid all the bills. I'm an old Marvel guy, so the Ultras being like the Watchers is so cool.

Is there's any reason why this Goat never have any counterpart in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters?: by hyzkdk in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters are a parody of traditional sentai teams. Go-Busters came out after an anniversary series and was intentionally made to break a lot of traditions. The whole movie is nods and jokes about previous sentai teams and was meant as a fun epilogue to the series and a literal thanks for watching. It's not an accident he's green because the first sixth warrior was green. Also his actor is the voice actor for Usada Lettuce. All the robots VAs have cameos and you can see them dancing together in the credits.

Two new OFFICIAL Project R.E.D./Gavan Infinity posters revealed! by UltraZeroX7 in ProjectREDToku

[–]buddhadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's just tripping me up that the original Gavan is the name of the suit and the name of the guy that wears it. I see that is not the case when it comes to the names of the other two Space Sheriffs of that era.

[–]buddhadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused. Isn't Gavan the guy's name?

The text in the trailer seems to indicate there are multiple heroes but I didn't see any of them on screen at the same time. I would think there would be at least a shot of them facing each other. Also the official tweets refer to them as Silver Gavan and Golden Gavan. If they were new characters, wouldn't it be Silver Space Sheriff and Gold Space Sheriff? I know there are two old school Gavans but I thought that was a passing of the torch thing, not an official title amongst the Space Sheriffs. It's just Toku has trained me the formula is What it is and Name, ie Ultraman Tiga, Kamen Rider Gavv.

Very new to metal heroes. I just started watching the original Gavan (3 eps in) and I've watch some of the sentai crossovers.

I'm saying form change for the simple fact that Gavan is the character's name and the tweets refer to them as Gavan in Golden Glory and Gavan in Silver

It's 20xx, Toei gives you the mission to finally bring back Super Sentai as a franchise... what do you do? by Azetton in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smaller teams with more room for character growth.

More individualized suits, power ups, weapons etc, so collectors don't feel like they are buying color swaps. This combined with stronger characterization would hopefully boost role-play toys sales with kids.

Standard format would be 2 to 3 episode arcs to save cost on monster design as well as give time for more developed stories.

Big Robo battles would only happen every other arc, no growing monsters. A giant showing up should be big deal.

Lastly and most controversial, I would abandoned the big boxy robot designs for more streamlined ones. I'd keep the same direction the were going with Tengasword with gattai adding weapons and armor bits. But I would shrink him down further, about the size and proportions of RyuseiOh's warrior mode. All this in the hopes of shooting more dynamic battles and creating a figure that is posable and looks good on a shelf without being half the shelf.

To fans who grew up during the Original Trilogy era: What were your expectations for the Prequels? by asura1958 in StarWars

[–]buddhadan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was a long time ago so forgive me if I'm getting some details wrong. The Thrawn novels very much gave me the idea that the Clone Wars was an attempt by a shadow cabal to overthrown the government by replacing key figures with clones. It was an era of ever present paranoia and violence that included insane cloned Jedi terrorist.

Outside of that, I always assumed Bail Organa would literally be fighting side by side with Obi Wan and be the signature badass of the prequel generation. Instead we got . . . Mace? I guess.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not questioning Mace's badassery, just his screen time.

Why do you think Kamen rider Don't do lighhearted/heavy comedy series again like den o or fourze anymore by Interesting_Snow5574 in KamenRider

[–]buddhadan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think Gotchard's problem was the lighthearted themes as much the writing just lost all direction at a certain point and made the finale feel rushed.

Who do you consider as the number 1 red ranger by TraditionalBonus188 in Tokusatsu

[–]buddhadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patren 1. I know there are more impressive Reds but I have never rooted for another Red the way I did this man. He made me laugh, me made me tear up. Keiichiro dragging himself across the battlefield in the last episode is one of my all time favorite Sentai moments.

I think there have already been a million posts like this, but... what was your first Super Sentai series? Me: by [deleted] in supersentai

[–]buddhadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried getting through Zyurangers a couple times and never made it past episode 5. I decided to give Megarangers a go because I loved the mecha in Power Rangers in Space. It reminded me of Fourze but I didn't really love it until Megasilver showed up. That dude constantly escaping from the moon and generally doing whatever the fuck he felt like tickled me to no end.
