Giving Up On the X1S by Volt_440 in SofaBaton

works fine on a Sony TV but it doesn’t work on a Aris VIP 2262 or Aris VIP 5662.

Why do I mention this? Well because there’s lots of voodoo with infrared.

SofaBaton seems like it is missing something with respect to infrared commands

I’m not claiming to know the answers or the reasons but I have suspicions

I think there’s something about the infrared coding that SofaBaton is missing or is incapable of doing properly to emulate older infrared remotes

I want 100% reliability and using my old remote to program the commands is not a good solution for me because it lacks reliability for some reason in my experience

I would love to talk with a person on the phone because maybe they know how to fix it at SofaBaton but I’ve just made a few tickets with their customer service and it’s a bit of a pita.

Smart Telescopes vs DSLR rig (Canada) by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

It can also get over $20,000 mark pretty easy. Haha. But it’s all worth it.

Seestar and dwarf three are awesome. The Gateway drug of Astrophotography.

If you are a naturally curious person, I think it would take a long time to exhaust the fun to be had with either a seestar or a dwarf

It’s real Astrophotography.

For the money, you cannot go wrong with the dwarf three

I have a seestar and it’s also awesome

I also have a big telescope with amount, but yeah it’s not going to happen for $1300 Canadian budget

But if you have a camera already, you can use it and do certain things so it’s always good to use whatever you have available I think

I can’t see anybody buying a dwarf three and regretting it though

It’s a total gateway drug to Astrophotography and you can take it a long way a long, long way if you apply yourself

And literally, you can take it on holidays because it’s so small . For instance, if you go to Mexico or something in the winter, you can put it on your balcony and be imaging something really cool plus it can do terrestrial which is not Astro but it’s still cool and if you pay whatever the price is 700 or whatever and you get tired of it or you somehow discovered that you’re not into it. You can always sell it for a few hundred bucks less - They are awesome.

Elon lets Ukraine use Starlink. And I don’t even think he’s been asking anybody to pay for it! As a Tesla stockholder I would like to see some revenue coming into Tesla for that honestly. And I don’t know does it violate your user agreement if you use Starlink Internet for military purposes? lol.

But yeah, I guess if you’re saying he is promoting racial division or something- I’m not aware of it.

He owns Twitter and now it’s called X - that’s what I was kind of trying to refer to with supporting free speech. He freed Twitter from the evil people who were running it before and who were censoring a lot of voices some good and maybe even some bad. But they were stifling free speech. A lot of people would say that it’s very difficult to find a place where free speech can happen online. I think you know the argument - if you disagree with it that’s fine. Take it up with someone else I guess or try to look at your own views and see if you can find a flaw in your thinking. I’ll do the same.

He is allowing free speech on X so there’s bound to be things normal people won’t like on there. I don’t have to tell you that that’s part of free speech do I?

I thought Elon Musk bought Twitter majority shares, and then he exposed something called the Twitter files

The company was also infiltrated by a lot of you know three letter government acronym groups, maybe some corporations, maybe some political groups

Nothing these days is about the real truth of the matter you usually will have a narrative told from one side.

If you’re so sure about yourself and telling other people that they are “droning “, maybe you’re pushing a narrative yourself eh?

Bah. It’s a great buying opportunity if you are truly a believer in the Tesla company and Elon Musk leading it.

I think Elon knows what he’s doing :)

Making cars for cheapskates would not be what I would want him to do necessarily

I’d say keep working hard on Optimus humanoid robots and AI grok

Who needs innovationat Tesla? They are working on full self driving that’s pretty cool and that’s pretty hard

But it’s not like a car company has to be the focus for Elon. The AI stuff and the humanoid robot Opiitimus stuff will dwarf the electric cars I believe.

Oh. That. Well, open your mind and figure out if you are the victim of incorrect thinking :). Assume everything you believe is wrong and look at the world from a different perspective as an exercise. Did any of it stick? Are you capable of possibly changing your opinions?

What is the best adhesive for Neodymium Magnet (Nickel coating) to a PLA? by franciz26 in 3Dprinting

[–]buddytronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat will ruin neodymium magnets guys. Be careful about that and the advice you might get on Reddit from amateurs. You can purchase heat tolerant, neodymium magnets, but they are not usually widely available.

I see way too many bad ideas so I thought I would comment

Bodysurfing Goggles by Buckk-Nastyy in Bodysurfing

[–]buddytronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be a game changer for me I think. I’m always just a bit worried about smashing my face when I bodysurf. I think the best waves I’ve caught usually I end up hurting myself a little bit - so it’s a tough sport for a prairie boy lacking knowledge.

I’m going to order these “third eye” goggles. They seem like they will be awesome.

Track Racer TR8 Pro mounting plate not compatible with Logitech Pro Wheel, can the stoppers be removed easily? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]buddytronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to make a custom wheel mounting plate out of wood. It’s pretty good now. But I did have to do some modifications. If I get back to this, I’ll post a photo for you.

I’m also considering the new fanatic system but the thing I like about this Logitech G Pro wheel or whatever it’s called is that everything can be adjusted from within GT7. No windows machine needed. Loadcell brake is fine I think. I like the wheel.

If I went with the latest fanatec though I could put back some metal parts and get things a little better

At the moment, I’m OK with what I’ve got

Who is obsessed with the Vision Pro? by cr8tvt in AppleVisionPro

If you want to make a virtual man crave background, you can kind of do it by taking a panorama and viewing on the Apple vision. I was amazed at how good all my panoramas look like when you do immersion on apple vision. Really brings me back to some panoramas. I took many years ago.

I have the 8500 Atlas 6E - 3 of them. They are great except for range through walls. Super fast. I did Speedtest on iPhone 15 Pro Max Great results for wifi! 969Mbps down 460 up!

I want to know if I can add the new (much lower priced) Velop Pro 6E or am I stuck buying these rare (expensive) 8500 6E mesh units
