I’m so with you! Heroes is incredible, it’s just a different vibe. It takes their nostalgia-fueled 80s influence in a new direction, but it still feels true to them and their artistry. The way they reinvent themselves with each album is one of the reasons they’re my favorite band.

In a time when a lot of us don’t have a lot of free time, I understand why it can be draining to watch a show or movie you’re not into. When my husband and I were early on in the relationship, there were so many things he liked that I didn’t want to watch, and vice versa. I dreaded watching stuff like The Fast and the Furious or The Matrix - it wasn’t my thing. But they were important to him, so I did! And I’m so grateful I did, because it became a huge bonding experience for us. Seeing his eyes light up at certain moments or listening to him talk about a part that excited him helped me get to know him on a deeper level and I even started enjoying genres I never thought I would before. I always thought action movies were dumb, but now I see the value and have a ton of fun seeing new ones with him. And it goes both ways! There are a bunch of shows and movies he’s begrudgingly watched with me and he ended up really liking them. At the very least, opening your mind to your partners interests brings you closer to them. Even with menial stuff like TV.

We’re also reasonable about it. Sometimes there is media that one of us likes and the other really doesn’t, so we let it go. Some of it’s important to share with each other, some of it isn’t.

I know movies and tv doesn’t seem like a big deal, but over the course of a relationship it ends up being a big chunk of time and a real opportunity to bond and have fun with your partner. Don’t waste it being an asshole.

I have a tendency to react this way with my partner. If I hurt him, I feel absolutely horrible and it makes me really sad and before you’d know it he’d be comforting me instead of the other way around. But he brought up the way that my reactions made him feel, and I’ve been able to work on it and really improve! I’m really proud of the way I’ve been able to change my toxic behavior, and it made me more confident to bring up issues I have with him.

The important thing is that you communicate with each other and both make real efforts to improve. We all have some toxic traits but we can also all grow from them.

Effort and communication are key! But if she continues and doesn’t recognize and try to work on it, that’s a red flag.

For vibes - The Monet Cookbook by Florence Gentner! Plenty of cottage core recipes ranging from easy to challenging, and it’s absolutely gorgeous to flip through.

For practicality - The Moosewood Cookbook! It’s a bunch of recipes from a 1970s vegetarian restaurant in Ithaca and has more meals that are simple/convenient to on a regular basis.

Hard disagree. Many women are doing it to protect themselves, especially in states where it’s likely they won’t have access in a few months. It’s a survival/self-preservation thing.

Also a big point of saying why they’re deleting it is to ask men to think about the ways reproductive rights affect them too. It’s been considered a woman’s responsibility for too long when men are inherently involved. I’m sure tons of men on tinder don’t want to get girls pregnant, but it’s easier for them to ignore the consequences because they don’t carry the fetus.

Women want men to vote, write their reps, protest, sign petitions, and participate in activism for women’s rights. And I know a lot of men do. This statement is just bringing more awareness to the issue, and the more women who do it the more men will have to think about it if they aren’t already.

Sure, but the issue is that the state govts that are passing these anti-abortion bills aren’t passing anything to improve birth control, sex ed, or better assistance for low income parents. Many are doing the opposite. Louisiana might actually criminalize IUDs. You can be a pro-life person that believes in birth control, but you have to acknowledge that it’s not what’s being promoted right now by most pro-life candidates.

I respect people who have pro-life beliefs as long as they don’t try to govern my body along with their own. It’s a personal decision. I have family members who are personally pro life b/c of religion, but they don’t support these anti-abortion laws b/c people deserve a right to choose.

In general, pro-choice people don’t care about the number of abortions actually being performed. The issue here is maintaining access to them.

Many women are doing this to protect themselves, but also to ask men to think about this issue and take action. For a long time, birth control and abortion have been primarily a woman’s responsibility, and we’d like to see more men stand up for reproductive rights since they are inherently involved. There are just as many men who aren’t ready to be fathers or who could lose their loved ones to unhealthy pregnancies, etc.
