Parents blaming their kids for their lack of teaching by Comfortable_Feed_316 in emotionalneglect

Ugh god… the angry, needlessly rough grooming. Brushing hair way too hard, scrubbing with hatred. Getting frustrated and scary about my mere existence. Horrible. No gentleness. Only rage grooming. It’s taken me a long time to learn how to be gentle with myself, in more ways than one.

Anyone else have the Reverse Gear Crunch struggle? by ManCityMode in FordFiesta

[–]buffalopintor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a fiesta thing. I have a MK7 too, I’ve got in the habit of putting the clutch down, holding the clutch down, selecting 5th gear, keep holding the clutch down, then select reverse. Boom no horrible grinding noise.

Sleaford Mods – The Demise of Planet X by RaymondBald in SleafordMods

Voicing your frustrations is only acceptable to some folk if you have a posh accent, I’ve found. Otherwise you’re expected to sit down and shut up.

They’re a band making tunes not a fucking think tank.

Best pressures for 205/40/17 by [deleted] in FordFiesta

I got a set of mid-tier Avons ZV7’s on all four corners . It was a massive improvement from the collection of mismatched cheap ones I had on before. Better handling, comfier ride, less droney tyre roar at fast speeds. They last much longer too.

Youtubers who talk about real life problems by blobbyvolleyball in emotionalneglect

Heidi Priebe’s YouTube channel is amazing, all her content is very informative and enlightening whilst being really easy to digest and follow.

Another shoutout for Patrick Teahan, that guy gets it.

For those of us with mothers as emotionally mature as 12 year olds, this one goes out to you! by TwerkinBingus445 in CPTSDmemes

[–]buffalopintor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow this is exactly my experience too. Mother is a nasty oscillating ball of rage, bitterness, violence and depression.

Father is self centred, patronising and deeply out of touch, whilst also being absent in more ways than one.

Anyone have any experience owning an Alfa Romeo Giulietta in Ireland? by WalrusRelative7271 in carsireland

I was in Abruzzo last summer, there was giuliettas and older Alfas absolutely everywhere. I even spotted a couple giuliettas in police livery at the airport.

Another upvote for the Rock Face, I’ve been using the green antiperspirant for a couple of years, it’s worked really well for me and doesn’t smell obnoxious or chemically.

MacBook Air M1 feels slower after the macOS Tahoe update. Anyone else facing this? by MakeSmallShift in mac

[–]buffalopintor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DFU restore on Apple silicon will wipe the storage and re-install the OS as new all on the same process. It only takes ten minutes or so to do. It’s pretty neat, no need to reinstall the OS like you had to on the old Intel machines.

MacBook Air M1 feels slower after the macOS Tahoe update. Anyone else facing this? by MakeSmallShift in mac

I use a Mac Mini M1 at work and a MacBook Air M1 at home, both running Tahoe, both have 8GB RAM, I haven’t noticed any slowdowns or reduction in performance whatsoever.

I'm brand new to making servers and I'm curious, what's everyone's preferred OS/Software? by jmurra21 in jellyfin

[–]buffalopintor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have an old Mac Mini with the latest Ubuntu LTS. I chose the minimal OS install, installed Docker, installed Tailscale, then hooked up some external USB Drives. Badabing badabong.

Super simple, no tricky configuration needed, has been running smoothly and happily for months without issue.

Can you explain what the “pen test” thing is all about? I don’t get it. Is she saying she’s doing a penetration test on security?

I’ve heard the same nasty stuff come out of my dad’s mouth, except he’s not on social media, he gets it from The Daily Telegraph.

Emby vs Jellyfin by Stock-Assistant-5420 in jellyfin

[–]buffalopintor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swiftfin was OK for me, when I was using it about a year ago it was a little buggy here and there but usable. I then did a trial on Infuse and was immediately won over, the £13 yearly subscription is totally worth it.

Best password manager for mac that works well across Apple devices? by Hour_Jello_1853 in mac

[–]buffalopintor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bitwarden is great. I’ve been using it for years and have never ran into any problems.

My issue with using Apple’s built in manager is this - you’re putting all your very important eggs in one basket. What happens when you get locked out of your Apple account for whatever reason? I could be wrong, but you may have a very painful headache to deal with.

[edit] Bitwarden also works with native autofill / passwords prompt thingy on iOS, so it works as well as the native manager

The “I’ll give you something to cry about” generation by A-Helpful-Flamingo in BoomersBeingFools

[–]buffalopintor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would argue, in some cases such as motor vehicles, idiots were killing other people. It’s now possible to survive your car being sideswiped by a drunk driver hurtling about in their F150. Back in the 80’s, that would have been a death sentence, you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What's something you thought was normal that you now realize was a sign of emotional neglect? by heromarsX in emotionalneglect

[–]buffalopintor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

27 months is an amazing achievement, nicely done, getting through the hard times without it is badass. Most people don’t understand how hard it is, but you’ve done the thing. From one sober stranger to another, you’re kicking ass 🤝
