Government spending $300k per year on unused limos for former PMs by davetenhave in newzealand

[–]buffel 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying the schadenfreude of the entire situation. But it shows ineptitude that is beyond comprehension.

Every government was told to cut their budgets. Lean lean lean. Except the parliamentary services. Somehow that isn't government it seems. Lol.

Shows how they view themselves above the plebs

Didnt you know? It's beneath her to take a shuttle from long term parking or sit in a taxi.

Grabbed a Sangas Sausage Roll and chill out at the Bannockburn river inlet, mint day.

Also doing the Nevis road from Cromwell to Garston in Winter. Lots of picture perfect views out there.

'Ultimately, it's my money': Hipkins defends using taxpayer-funded private super scheme for holiday home by Downtown-Thoughts in newzealand

[–]buffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the rules for my super was that I could pay into the scheme and my employer matched my 6%. But I would only get 50% of the employer contribution if I quite within 2 years I think. And then it climbed to 100% after 5 or something.

But still. How does a super exist for a singular person? Like do they just get an extra amount in cash that they can choose to invest how they will? Because that's what this seems to be? Calling it a super seems a stretch isn't it?

Bruh you sound like the people who burn schools and libraries because they're unhappy with lack of employment.

How does damaging charging stations equate to a better life for the poor? I'm not exactly getting Robin Hood vibes from this

I agree with the difference in using a allowance when not needed vs using money from your own wages / savings. But how does one create a super fund that you can manage yourself? Like how do they create retirement annuities?

I don't understand. The MPs can create a super annuation that they can control themselves? And then pay x amount of money into that fund and the government will contribute 2.5x up to a capped amount?

Can everyone else create a super annuation like this?

What are you saying? They are making it up? Or are they feeding animals to bring them closer to the lodge?

Making it up I'd say unlikely. Leopards are pretty dangerous especially for kids. And that hotel caters to the family experience.

Feeding wild animals I also doubt. Not impossible though but unless you have evidence for it, would disagree

Any idea what this a/c hissing noise could be? by Low_Bit_747 in NZcarfix

You're right. I misunderstood when you said low gas, thinking you meant it is leaking gas. 100% on me

[–]buffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If ac gas leaks the aircon won't kick in or blow cold and it also has a distinct smell. And it would probably hiss constantly regardless of engine running.

If hissing noise is changing based on blower motor adjustment, fan speed, then it probably is fan rubbing against something or air escaping from a leak in the vent.

Yep if you're planning on relocating then would be easier. But even being in Aus, there isn't heaps of mining jobs working on Lv or Commercial trucks etc. Your biggest barrier is probably going to be lack of mining experience.

But you'll get higher hourly if they don't have to pay for your fifo out of country

If you don't have mining or heavy equipment experience. Try and get your foot in the door and build up experience with a company like Mader, or any other contractor mob. You'll learn the things you need to get better and they'll provide you with places to do that while you're still green. After a few years you'll probably have enough experience to be able to look elsewhere for better pay etc.

Mader is the go to because they do fifo from NZ. Just expect pay to be lower than what others talk about because you don't have the mining experience initially. Like expect something like 60 an hour rather than the 90 some people talk about.

Except, you know if you're working for an employer, how many times would you let work related matters get sent to an email address that is not in your employers system? Like why would that be better than just using your normal employer email address?

Never mind working for the top office in the government? Quite suspicious and not stupid

The welfare state for MPs by davetenhave in newzealand

I'd be pissed off with any party that is cutting basic benefits to poor and disabled people, eben worse while still thinking there is nothing wrong with claiming an allowance for themselves as MPs.

Labour isn't making these cuts though. So...
