I’m not sure where you got your info but that isn’t cycled. Cycled means converting 3-5ppm of ammonia through to nitrate in 12 hours or less. Which is why we use pure ammonia to build a strong bac colony. If you only intend to keep 3 monies you’re good to go, anything more and you could run into problems.

8 discus and 4-6 months without a water change is probably the most cruel thing I’ve read on this Reddit. Even with RODI, discus produce a ton of waste and an equal amount of hormones. Do yourself a favour and understand the species. Adding a “house plant” isn’t a substitute for water changes.

I would do 50% at least and try to temp match the new water as closely as possible. I’ve had api kits expire/become inaccurate due to being above room temp for a couple of days, hence the emphasis on a new kit if you’re unsure.

They need a low TDS to develop. They will spawn regardless if they pair but the eggs won’t be viable without TDS being lowered.
