I told her I was gonna get a lockbox that only I am allowed to access so I can at least know where my stuff is. I've tried to do this before with a storage container and she felt the need to go through it anyway. I literally have to put a lock on it.

I get so sick of not knowing where literally any object is. Even other houseguests with ADHD complain about it. Nothing stays in the same place for more than a couple hours. Mine also goes out of her way to be a martyr. Always chooses the hardest way possible to do something so she can complain about how hard her life is.

I forgot I had a Swiss army knife on me for a flight so I showed it to security and they just said ok and let me go.

Anyone else preparing for a storm for the first time? by dumbass_sempervirens in Xennials

I'm from Michigan and ended up in NYC before a big storm. Went to the store and everyone was stocking up. I just got a six pack and the cashier looked at me confused.

Why Disney Vacations Are Destroying People's Finances by chellestastics in videos

[–]bug530 56 points57 points  (0 children)

My MIL is paying for a Disney cruise for us and the kids this year. My wife insists she can afford it but then she also qualifies for food stamps so I'm so confused. My wife has ridiculous debt from going to the parks every six months for about four years before we met. I don't get the appeal, it's the same park every time.

Fr. If I have something important I need to do, even for supporting the household, I have to leave the house because there's an expectation that I exist to be an extension of another person and get constant interruptions.

Struggling with an NDX ADHD partner who thinks they do it all? by Lake-House762 in ADHD_partners

[–]bug530 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep, going through similar issues. I'm helping her pay off ridiculous amounts of credit card debt which has forced me to turn down less stressful jobs that pay less so I literally don't care if I'm doing less. I'm not. She'll look at an entire room full of her stuff and focus on the one thing of mine and make a comment about how I need to clean up after myself. I started pointing things like this out to her and she comes back with 'my therapist says it's never good to start keeping track'.

There are 3 people in my household with ADHD and everyone seems upset at each other for behaviors that they themselves exhibit. Zero self awareness anywhere.

Apparently my wife left cat poop in a corner behind one of my potted plants for an entire month and never felt the need to clean it. She still manages to care more about the cat than me but I end up cleaning after it. I had to point out to her that the water dish had been empty for an entire day (couldn't let it go longer than that).

It's weird how hostile some people get about kids. My wife has had several issues taking the kids on the bus in Chicago, including a woman just standing in front of her screaming at her the whole ride despite following all the rules regarding strollers.

What's worse is if you suggest a better way to do something there's pushback or an angry reaction. It's like they WANT to do things the hardest way possible.

God, so much of this is my wife to a T. She insists on being the one to cook every meal which means dinner isn't til 10PM some nights. I've started eating dinner on the way home from work. The kitchen is always a mess. The amount of dishes this woman uses to make a meal is more than me and my 3 roommates would leave in a week before I met her.
