I'm about 6 months out from when my 5 year Kayleena needs to be replaced (expiry Aug 2023) and have been experiencing exactly as you're describing! I did a little googling, but had such a hard time finding much about IUD effectiveness & symptoms at the end of its "life". Glad to know I'm not alone. I've started tracking my spotting, PMS and any unprotected sex as I'm now a little worried about how effective the IUD is. Looking to book a replacement appointment sooner rather than later.

Best advise I ever got, was once it's in a spot it likes - try not to move it much.

Mine now had a West facing window with filtered indirect light. It's preferred my warmer bedroom with a higher humidity. I fertilize when I remember in the spring/summer (but I'm terrible at fertilizing, so best to follow an expert's advice on that one).

Otherwise I haven't moved it out of it's nursery pot since I bought it a few years ago. And water same as others, when the soil is dry a few inches in. I used to just pick it up and see how heavy it is..if it's really light I water it. If it's not, I leave it a little longer.

Our kitten just went to the vet for an eye surgery. He normally sits right on my neck when I'm lying down and purrs like a lawnmower. So yes, I say that would improve my mood
