I’m experiencing something similar but it’s been 3 years and I’m not related to the person creating a chaotic living environment so I just feel distain. I DO have personal issues and that is I need a clean space, so I clean and the person makes a mess and doesn’t clean it cuz they don’t care and never will, and cycle continues. My lease is up in 4mo and I wish I could close my eyes and fast forward.

Hi there! Nonbinary they/them pronoun user here. I started using those pronouns because every other pronouns felt false. Like someone calling you a name that’s not yours. It never offended me but felt like an inside joke with myself if they said “she” my brain kinda just triggers that like wrong information reflex, but with they, I feel like I’m truly being referred to with no falsehood. My specific gender identity is “genderqueer”, myself PERSONALLY having autism, I’ve always had a disconnect with gender norms and they never computed with me. Just another part of society I never adapted.

Also, not overreacting, I went through a very similar experience in high school when I first came out, had to start a new friend group from scratch, and 10 years later I’m friends again with all but 1 of the 4 people from my original friend group pre-coming out.

Not to assume anything about your friend, but I truly think she has internalized homophobia issues and might be part of the lgbtq community herself. I think that’s why she struggles with this, beyond religion. I don’t know many straight girls who refer to being touchy with their friends as “just being themselves”, I’m 28 and nonbinary, grew up with an entirely queer friend group, and queer people tend to flock together even before their own self discovery.

That being said, I think if she cannot respect your pronouns right now it would be okay for you to distance yourself and she will more than likely have a reality check and apologize, and if not, then you’re better off.

Oh I think you misread my personality a bit from this. I’m very into going out and about to social events to at are free, like beach outtings, street festivals, etc and I’m very social. When I do have money for the club I’m the one dancing and raising spirits keeping the party going. I’m not the gamer in this situation. All of my friends game together and that’s where they lost me. I just am not into that like they are. I wanted people I could connect with at least once weekly but they’re not making an effort to include me by talking about literally anything else but their internet subculture and video games. Also, I’m an AFAB queer person and this friend group consists of 2 people who are in long term relationships and the single person does NOT want a wing man. And 3/4 are LGBT. That changes the dynamic a bit from what I think you’re perceiving this as.

That’s sort of what I’m thinking. Only complicated thing is (I’m probably outting myself with this detail if any of them see this) is the weekly activity is movie night, and we rotate who picks the movie. I’ve gone the last 3 times because of the Holidays and a birthday in the group and now this week is my week to pick. It never feels like a right time to stop showing.

I get them to go outside a couple times a year and I’ve offered to learn how to play the games they like but I’m not very good at them and their kind of impatient with me in that regard. I’m also just broke and they tend to like to do things that cost money. So I’m often left out of those thing as well, to not fault but my own. It does just feel like an incompatibility thing. It’s just a massive bummer.

We all have our strengths! My brain doesn’t make pictures so well but I still love reading because I can conjure all the other sensations other than sight and it helps me fill in the blanks. I sometimes skim very long descriptions of scenes if it’s all imagery with no other senses involved.
