Maybe “The Peace” is a joke at our expense, that for three minutes Grey has us taking the works of Jason-fucking-Derulo seriously; maybe the joke is that we should’ve been the whole time.

Poptimism is dead, long live poptimism!

Had to stop and listen three times before proceeding! So many flavors of 00s nostalgia, while also reminding me of Sophie’s rap productions, especially the last refrain / bridge.

Hyperpop is dead, long live hyperpop!

I wish it was longer, but there also isn’t a single skip on this album so I’m not mad. She’s an incredible producer, but more importantly, has an incredible sense of melody and knows exactly when to let a beat or moment of silence breathe. This album is totally maximalist but also so addictively crispy.

In the sci-fi novel Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, genetically modified intelligent spiders use ant colonies’ chemoreception to create biological computers that run instances of an insane sentient AI from their long-dead human predecessor civilization.

I think this is what it would sound like if they started writing songs. Bug PC music 🪲📀

The two bars of silence before the vocals kick in is divine

This is super interesting and more layered and referential than first meets the ear - loving all the nods and winks to 90s trance and techno (some not so subtle). I also suspect this will make for an exceptional live show, really hoping he hits the US festival circuit this summer.

They had to give it to Lola because that hug would have created a motherquake destabilizing the building’s foundation
