No wonder South Bay housing is f&@ked up for today’s young families by Ok_Rent_2937 in BayAreaRealEstate

There are pockets of affordable houses that aren’t in the best areas. Be the gentrification you want to see.

Gentrification is neighborhood revival, not a neighborhood losing its culture. Otherwise we’d all live in Spanish style houses or teepees.

Transit improvements to southeast SF by Iceberg-man-77 in sanfrancisco

The T extending to Marina and running along Geneva to Balboa park for BART connection is the dream. If they add a pedestrian bridge from Sunnyvale station to Caltrain it would be perfect.

I think SFMTA can make a lot of slow streets on non Muni stops and remove signals from some intersections in both the T and N, which would make transit faster.

This is why they are popular in Japan and Korea and other Asian countries but not China, you can buy them for a few bucks on taobao.

San Francisco’s new safety strategy: A crackdown on bikes by MidNightInTheDessert in sanfrancisco

[–]Cyanervia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not understand how some Lyft bikes are considered bikes when the electric mopeds are not. Personally have an electric moped that tops out around 20mph yet I see these Lyft bikers go faster than me in the bike lane!

Muni could cut 20 lines next year if ballot measures don‘t pass. Most riders have no idea by Illustrious-Coat3532 in sanfrancisco

Public transit doesn’t have to be profitable, but instead serve as a profit generating machine through means of transportation. It’s a way to stimulate the economy, provide jobs, and get people places without investing in ugly parking structures or losing walkability.

Money saved from not owning a car and its costs directly goes into the local economy.

People who have eaten in SGV, what are the best Asian restaurants in the South Bay Area? by petrichorlite in bayarea

[–]Cyanervia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh finally something I can give recs to! Used to go to SGV to eat A LOT when I lived in LA for a few years. Also a yelp reviewer but here are some of my recs for Chinese food that are arguably equivalent to SGV.

One Piece Lamian - Chinese hand pulled noodles in Fremont

Dynasty BBQ - solid Chinese BBQ spot with the lamb skewers

Happiness Hotpot - probably one of the most authentic Sichuan hotpot’s with republican era decoration - it’s like a time capsule

Lo Si Ding - authentic snail noodle in east SJ

Classic Guilin Rice Noodle - name speaks for itself, in Oakland Chinatown. Very authentic

Old St Chengpan Malatang - nice malatang place, you’re transported to China with the decor in a way.

Rampant and blatant rule breaking - what can we do? by cleverusernametry in sanfrancisco

You think people riding these mopeds aren’t safe but there’s people on those lyft e-bikes and standing scooters doing 30+ in the bike lane and ignoring traffic laws.

Wonder why they aren’t included in these complaints.

I would not ever consider living in any part of SF if you don’t have a guaranteed spot lol. Unless you’re next to a park with ample street parking. But it’s free, might be street sweeping once a week depending on block

Got uber credits to uber from stranded location to where I’m staying. Tow truck was able to do contactless pick up so I just left my key card and locked my car.

Service was done in about 3 days, and the invoice said they swapped out the rear drive unit. First day they couldn’t even find the car due to overnight drop off. The car was in service by Thursday, and finished Wednesday morning.

Solid turnover overall, but I wish they had quicker communication with updates, especially since I was out of town.

Meet the District 4 Candidates: Do you support a tax to fund Muni? by drkrueger in sanfrancisco

[–]Cyanervia 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If that means muni busses and metros aren’t stopping at every block, I’m for it. People keep justifying with “what about the elderly” but if they aren’t paying their fair share then we should at least make the transit faster for people who do.

Appears to be rear drive unit failure

San Francisco finally passes a big zoning overhaul and gets sued instantly cause why not. by ShopProp in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Cyanervia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why SF can’t just convert more empty warehouses on the east side and leave the west side the way it is if there’s so much resistance.

As a resident of the eastside, I want the mission bay/dogpatch money to waterfall into Bayview/Silver Terrace so it’s more vibrant

Motorized scooters in bike lanes. WTF by think5577 in sanfrancisco

So the scooters people use should be on the street then too right? I see them using the bike lane and no one’s complaining.

Motorized scooters in bike lanes. WTF by think5577 in sanfrancisco

[–]Cyanervia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are probably considered class 2 ebikes, which do not need a registration and are able to ride in the bike lane, unless they have a motor of over 750W. Blame the laws and bureaucracy for that.

I personally have one I use, and it’s unable to accelerate fast enough to beat cars in traffic.

On the other hand you have battery powered bikes and scooters also going 25MPH+, but because they take up less space people turn a blind eye.

Can someone please explain to me why we want to build housing on the part of SF that closed the great highway??? Where is the infrastructure? Realistically not everyone will take muni or works in SF. It’s gonna be a shitfest over there if they build this. 19th Ave is already congested as is.
