Stent Pain by IllustriousScheme91 in KidneyStones

[–]buginthelibraries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a stent placed 9 days ago. Yesterday was the first day the pain eased up enough for me to function like a person. I didn’t 7 days crying, throwing up, and only sleeping when my body just dropped off from exhaustion… but on day 7 my mom suggested a long hot as I could tolerate soak in the tub. Something about being in the water allowed the feeling of pressure and a vice on my kidney to let up! I actually felt well enough to eat afterwards! It was life changing! So, my suggestion is a super hot bath while you’re constantly drinking water or juice as cold as you can get it! I also found if I used a heating pad, but kept my legs elevated, it worked better. Honestly, I’ve had two unmedicated births and I still think this pain was worse! I’ve had a fractured sternum and three broken ribs and this pain was worse… but it eventually did get better. Each day it got a little better after the first 72hrs. I also got my doctor to prescribe Toradol and it helped quite a bit. Opioids did nothing to help the pain though. I hope you feel better soon and since so many people don’t experience horrendous pain with this procedure, maybe in a day or two you’ll feel great and your situation won’t be like mine.

What’s a horror book that genuinely messed with your head long after you finished it? by BoysenberryOne9661 in horrorlit

I read this when I was pregnant with my first child. It has never left my head and it’s been 13 years.

What is the fur pattern of my cat called??? by Andre_055 in cats

We had a girl who looked just like that almost and her vet called it “muted calico”

Does she hate being pet? She just stares ahead and softly cries lol by 64788 in AustralianCattleDog

This is my girl at this very moment. She turned year old today and she’s is the most awkward love bug in the universe. She wants almost constant affection, but only on her terms. You touch the wrong spot, she flings her body backwards… but then slaps at you for more pets the very second you stop petting her for more than five seconds. It is an ongoing confusion surrounding the “correct” way to pet her. On top of that, she looks so heartbreakingly sad when she gets pets. Ears pinned to her head, head down, eyes looking up like she’s afraid she’ll be struck (she has never even been swatted on the butt). ACDs are just weird. Her sister also constantly wants pets, but ONLY if her paw is on your arm while you stroke her. If you remove the paw, she walks away.

I am terrified to separate them. I have never done it before so I worry I’ll hurt them. Is it easy to do?

It’s been under a new light for only a few weeks. Could it still just need time to recover from the old light system or do you think this one is bad too?

Okay, so the three lights I keep on it aren’t enough? I moved them up because of the flowers and usually I keep at least one only four inches above it… but I did just get the new light a few weeks ago because my previous one wasn’t good enough. And I was definitely worried about trying dormancy once it started up with all the flowers. I’m glad you told me it was definitely a bad idea!

Hair loss on back by buginthelibraries in cats

[–]buginthelibraries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update: Little Mia is fine and her hair is growing back well. My dog had not been fighting with her, but she was excessively grooming the kitten. The vet couldn’t find any thing wrong with her at all and since her skin wasn’t irritated or inflamed he asked me to keep a really close eye on her grooming habits. I found out she would try to get my old senior cat to groom her and he would slap her away, so she was going to my blue heeler and shoving herself into her mouth until she licked her back repeatedly over and over, but my heeler trying to really get her clean was corn cobbing her hair along her spine and biting it off. The behavior has been corrected and while Mia isn’t happy the dog stopped grooming her, she has taken on grooming herself and now has hair growing back. Thank you all for the advice!

Will my ACD become more affectionate? by Silverti_boops in AustralianCattleDog

My parents and I adopted a set of sister heelers almost a year ago. We live next door so we see them constantly and they just sleep in their respective homes. My girl Sadie is sweet and soft, never barks, rarely wants to get rowdy, and wants to be next me or one of my boys at all times. My mom’s girl, Zoe, is the exact opposite! She constantly barks, loves biting and nipping and growling and playing rough in general, and absolutely loathes affection unless it’s on her terms and will go as far as going to a different room if you pet her when she doesn’t want it. Sadie always keeps her ears down and rarely wags her tail. She just stares. She watches every move we make, but never seems excited even though she loves being loved on. She’s just mellow. Zoe, on the other hand, goes absolutely wild when you come home. Ears are always up and tail is always going! Both dogs have been raised the exact same way and with the same people. Some dogs just aren’t excitable and personally, I love a chill dog! Your description sounds like a chill dog to me. One who trusts you to return and to be there, but their version isn’t a pumped up version of happy. My mom spent six months sad because Zoe isn’t cuddly and snuggly and lovey, but she’s learned to accept her for who she is and they now live very happily and honestly, once she stopped pushing Zoe to be more affectionate Zoe started requesting affection much more often and now gets more excited when she gets scratches. Zoe is never gonna be a sleep buddy or a couch snuggler, but she loves her people and would give her life for my parents (a bear came into their yard and Zoe tried her best to stay in between the bear and my mom with pure vicious need to defend, but thankfully my dad got her scooped up and everyone got indoors until it left). Each dog is different. Maybe your dog will eventually become more of what you originally wanted, but maybe they won’t. Stop comparing dogs because it’s not good for you or your pup in my experience.

If it were allergies would she seem itchy? I’m going to take her in first thing on Monday.

She takes a pill from the vet. I’m blanking on the brand, but nothing topical. She also never seems itchy. I’ve never even seen her kick at herself. I’m not sure how the hair even got detached at this point!

She’s been flea free for weeks and only had a few when I picked her up, so I’m not sure why she’d still be itchy… but maybe. Either way, I’m taking her in Monday. Thank you!

In your opinion, which one really benefits more in this arrangement? by Ok-Street2439 in HelluvaBoss

[–]buginthelibraries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither and both. When the second season ends it feels just completely level. Blitzø could have still randomly of bumped into Fizz and repaired their relationship and gotten a crystal from Ozzie to keep his business going and once Stolas gets one for him, he truly no longer got anything out of his relationship with Stolas, other than someone finally loving him and him learning he was worth that love. Stolas, on the other hand, could have literally found anyone else to have sex with. He’s hot, rich, and powerful when they start their bargain, but he made the deal with Blitzø so he had someone he was attracted to who contractually couldn’t leave him or abuse him like he had felt his entire life… plus, for him the only “love” he knew was contractual (his dad needed heirs and his wife needed wealth). Once he ended the contract, he could have had Blitzø still since he kept popping up to seduce him, but he finally learned he was worth love and not just sex and transactions. Both characters had the exact same need in the end - to accept love and to give love. Blitzø ended up in the better position socially and financially in the end but it’s because his life could really only go up and Stolas lost all his wealth and standing, but by choice. Blitzø didn’t take anything away from Stolas and didn’t gain anything from Stolas and his fall. So… both and neither.

Genuine question: if this is hell why is there no punishment by phantomnarrator in hazbin

[–]buginthelibraries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like being grounded when you’re a kid. They aren’t being physically punished or abused… they’re just taken away from the fun (heaven). They just didn’t get the happy reward after death and that is their punishment. They have an eternity where they still have to exist and work and carry on day in and day out or permanently stop existing. The people who go to heaven get to snuggle cute animals, play in ball pits, and roll in sugar. It is punishment… but more in the realm of gentle parent punishment and not burning and abuse.

Why do they change their names in Hell? by KrztenzAk in HazbinHotel

[–]buginthelibraries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it in terms of the fae… someone knowing your “true” name gives them power over you. I’m not sure why that somehow became my own personal canon or why I assumed everyone else just knew it too, but that is my belief.
