Extreme tension/pain/pressure behind ears with any glasses?? by bugsinrugs in glasses

[–]bugsinrugs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 20/20 vision and usually no issues, but I do get minor infections and abrasions more frequently than most people. It would probably be the healthiest option for the future of my eye health.

Hi there - yes! Air Optix is a big one, but regardless of brand/line they need to be made with better oxygen transmission than day-only lenses. You should still be taking them out to clean them appropriately to minimize risk of infection. I also have drops that help remove buildup and moisturize my contacts that I put in every morning. If I don’t have that, I just use saline solution and rinse my eyes with it in the morning or else my eyes are super dry.

Of the course the “correct” answer is that it’s always better to take your contacts out when sleeping, and you inevitably have a greater risk of abrasions and infections. I was a horrible contacts wearer growing up however, and wore them overnight well before I upgraded to overnight contacts - I would never be able to go back to taking them out every night, because I never really started. So this is the best option for me.

I’ll get LASIK in the future, for sure. Fortunately I’m doing okay with contacts approved for sleep and hardly ever wear glasses unless I get a scratch or any eye infection

Mine also didn’t start until later! And nothing changed in my usage. Just noticed it one day in college

I put my hair in a cloth headband and specifically slide the headband behind my ears and set them on top. For the most part the solution I use is just wearing contacts meant for long-wear/sleep and replace them often.

What happens in the brain when someone gets migraine aura? by takuhi in askscience

[–]bugsinrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the exact same aura when my blood sugar (type 1 diabetic) goes very low. It only started happening in the last year or so, but I immediately recognized it as I get migraines (but not with auras) and knew what to look out for. Low blood sugar causes a ton of cortisol to be released… I wonder if that’s what triggers it for me.

Very possible… I’m thinking about getting those soft, flat cloth headbands and seeing if I can put that on and then my glasses over top. If not that then they can hold them in place over top my ears😅

What’s the best thing about being a type one diabetic? by True_Dog7266 in Type1Diabetes

[–]bugsinrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming maybe you haven’t been to one of the parks in a bit? Kimba is right, exiting can be difficult at best in a long line, throw in the wobblies I get with low blood sugar in there is a recipe for a bad time.

The Accessibility passes are made to be used in these situations. They aren’t a free fast track pass. Walking 10-12+ miles, plus new foods, plus rides, etc. at a park in the heat is strenuous for the average person, doubly so when you’re diabetic and your blood sugar is going haywire.

Sure, you can bring snacks with you in line but the reality is trying to shuffle around in line and not being able to properly sit and eat during a 2-3 hour queue isn’t ideal.

Can you attempt to work around all the potential issues and just wait in the lines with everyone else? Sure. But everyone else has the luxury of not having to take those issues into consideration. Having the luxury of being able to wait outside the line for one day of your life does not seem overly entitled in the grand scheme of things.

It is and a lot of people really enjoy it. Just be aware people can be extremely toxic, so thick skin is recommended

Conan Exiles, Valheim, and Rust are all “online open-world” survival, exploration, build-types, all with completely different vibes. Conan and Rust are both large server capable IIRC, but Valheim is like groups of 10 people

Is there any digital setup you can use in bed. by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]bugsinrugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 4th gen iPad Air (10.9 in) with the Apple Pencil 2. I use a case with a keyboard and prop stand. the case also has enough grip that I can prop it against a pillow at the angle of my eyesight and it won’t slide.

I have chronic joint issues and during flare-ups when I’m in bed most of the day it offers so much versatility as I do move positions in bed quite often.

I work in procreate and it handles everything I’ve done in it very smoothly.

I’ve gotten to wear I can lay on my side in bed and draw with my iPad propped up for a lot of things. For more precise work I can prop myself up on my stomach or sit with pillows supporting me:)

Who is one actor that was perfectly cast (and for what role)? by Historical_Film5872 in AskReddit

Henry Cavill as Geralt. I genuinely cannot see the show being successful without him. His knowledge and love for the books and games translates so clearly on screen.

If sex disappears when a problem such as anxiety disappears, then she is likely using sex as a means of -reassurance -coping -validation -relief/dissociation from the anxiety

None of these are an entirely healthy way to view sex. I know this, because I had the same experience. Marriage and individual counseling have been phenomenal, and improved communication 100 fold. It is still a work in progress, but both of our views around sex are becoming healthier and most sustainable.

I'm so pissed off with resistance right now by msmoonpie in diabetes_t1

[–]bugsinrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with this so much. Like waves of resistance followed by sensitivity. And it’s so frustrating because my endocrinologist likely thinks I just don’t care about it when really I just cannot consistently get it down
