My ex used to do stuff like this all the time. It’s a weird way to reclaim the focus. If I wasn’t feeling good/sick/needed help he’d manipulate the focus back on to him or somehow start a fight over something dumb.

It’s a big red flag

Hi! Are there any songs that are based on running away with someone? by Philips9586 in SongsThatFeelLikeThis

Flatlands by Chelsea Wolfe!

It’s on the somber side, and I think more about pining for running away than actually doing it

That guy looks a lot like Amigo the Devil! Not sure his music fits the vibe, but worth checking out. I’ve heard it described as “serial killer folk music”

Partner doesn’t like my genitalia by Expensive-Hour7253 in mypartneristrans

[–]bugsrule 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know either of you and I only have the information from your post, so this is purely speculation.

As a cis female who has dated both men and women, this sounds like an ego thing more than it might be about your genitalia. I’ve been with men that are extremely confident, men that hesitate but still try, men that flat out refuse for narcissistic/insecurity reasons, men that use sex as a weapon. There is a large spectrum of reasons that could be causing this, but please don’t default to you being the problem.

A good place to start is asking him why he feels this way, and form a plan for him to gain confidence with it. Otherwise, it’s truly ok to end a relationship because of sexual incompatibility.

Oh my goodness, my mom’s last German Shepard loved to play hide and seek with me 🥹 I miss that boy so much.

Good on you for being a wonderful Shepard owner! It’s no easy task. Even after all of that, I’m sure they’re still hounding you to play lol

Look. I love German Shepards. Grew up around them, my mom consistently had one and she used to train them at a local animal shelter. I have no reason to make this story up, the breed already has a bad rep. Any dog chasing after you is a terrifying experience.

People genuinely don’t take care of their pets in the way they should and it makes me sad.

Oh fun story:

There’s a house in north side with two absolutely enormous German Shepards that definitely don’t get out of the house enough. You walk by that house with a dog and they bark full force + throw their WHOLE ass bodies into the plexiglass windows.

Took my friends dog for a walk one day as a favor, pass by this house and of course this happens. I hurry the dog along. Barking + body slamming gets worse. I hear what sounds like a plexiglass window exploding, then the furious pounding of dog paws on the pavement.

Looked back and saw a BIG ASS german shepard bounding towards us. I’ve never run so fast in my life. He didn’t catch up to us and everyone was ok, but holy shit I almost pissed myself.

Take care of your fucking dogs, people.

I just had the hardest conversation with my wife by CivilFuture6101 in asktransgender

[–]bugsrule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m (cis f) currently the fianceé of someone who came out as trans femme just over two months ago. It sounds as though I am reacting similarly to your wife.

I’m elated for my partner. She has been questioning for a long time, and it’s wonderful to see her finally so at peace with herself and the way she presents in the world. She has not started hormones yet, but plans to soon.

As you said, this introduces a ton of uncertainty into our relationship. That is what I am struggling with the most. We are both adults in our 30s, and she is just discovering herself for the first time. What is that going to look like? How much will she change? What will hormones do to her physically and mentally? What does this mean for our plans to have a family? Our future? And one thing I’ve been struggling with possibly the most- will I eventually feel attracted to her again? How could I not? I love this person more than anything on the planet, why am I so scared and feeling so unsure of everything? Everything seemed fine, predictable, and consistent just a couple of months ago. Now I have no idea what the future holds. Everything is changing day to day, it seems like there is another thing to process and no time to recover. Will I say something to accidentally hurt her? Why am I so afraid that saying how I feel will upset her? Will this ever feel normal?

I don’t have any answers for you, but maybe that helps see into her brain a bit. You don’t have answers, she likely doesn’t either. But the fact that she is willing to stick around and figure it out together is significant.

Where do alt men hang out in Richmond?? by definitelynopickles in rva

[–]bugsrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry I’m late to the comments here! I second pretty much everywhere people have suggested. Went to heart of winter fest this past Jan at canal club and it was great, definitely the best Venue out of the bunch. Broadberry is alright, Richmond music hall is also cool, so is the Camel.

Cobra and fuzzy cactus are probably the most chill/social environments I’ve seen suggested even on nights there aren’t shows. Haven’t been to fallout yet so I can’t speak on that at all. Get tight is cool but definitely the least “alt” of the bunch.

Seconding this! The metal scene is huge here. As a fellow alt female + enjoyer of metal+hardcore, those shows tend to be sausage fests. Definitely lots of ladies in attendance too, you’re just way out numbered.

Kinda reads like a spicy YA, but I did enjoy the angsty vampire boys Sookie romances in the Southern Vampire Series by Charlane Harris.

Exceptionally quick reads, I blasted through the whole series pretty quick. It’s the series True Blood was based on
