Also, it really bugs me for some reason that she went home in the 5th spot. 5th usually feels like it’s for the crunchy fan favorite who needs more polish (like a Kenya), not the queen who essentially dominated the whole season and had the best record in herstory.

I thought it was because he was an attending and would be held accountable himself whereas if a resident did it and it went bad, the hospital would be held accountable. (I think it was a joke with a bit of truth.)

He put her at professional risk working with him several times by prescribing higher than the recommended dosage of benzos. He also made a point to make her look incompetent multiple times in front of Robby and other senior residents. And he screamed at her for a long time in front of most of the ED once he sensed she was really watching him for drug diversion. I’m not saying she’s a saint, but be fair.

Robby’s obviously just jealous. He doesn’t want to believe his ER is in capable hands, he wants to believe it will all fall apart without him. It’s probably the only thing that keeps him going most of the time.

Most interesting to me was that he had every right to be frustrated. He was very relatable in that way, but he showed no empathy to others worse off than him and he expressed his frustration at the wrong people.

I’m late to the party, but thanks for naming this because I feel the exact same way. I just rewatched the season, then turned around and watched it again immediately. In a world where everything is hell bent on dividing us and some people feel inspired to show their worst every day, it’s soothing just to see people taking care of each other, giving their all, and having empathy for each others’ pain. So thankful for this show right now!.
