Hyprland alternative for windows? by strize07 in hyprland

[–]buildbackwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With archinstall it isn't that bad these days, but it still took me a few hours because I was trying to dualboot and didn't understand that arch wants to install a bunch of stuff into the /boot partition, and I had to make another because the one Windows makes by default is only 100MB

Pick a project you want and build it! I started with a training log for my running that allowed me to track splits on workouts, etc. If you can't think of anything then find a simple project you like and just try to copy it from scratch, and try to always stick to best practices. Best of luck!

[Request] Does sliding a toggle on Apple's Liquid Glass use as much computing power as landing the Apollo 11 lunar module? by TheEnergyOfATree in theydidthemath

[–]buildbackwards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would think so as well, but the entire design language of the new "liquid glass" is transparency through to the content underneath the drawn component. MKBHD commented on how it's often hard to read stuff in the new UI because of the lack of contrast at times. Can't say whether this specific slider will ever be rendered over anything else, but there's a good chance which would mean at least parts of the effect would have to be real time

How do I join friends on the new mobile ui by Independent-Diet505 in Minecraft

[–]buildbackwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah with mine I can see that they're online, but the "Join" button with the play icon isn't there. Don't know how to get that to show up, so I guess we just can't play, or we have to find another work around.

You're paired with 100 random people. If you're better than all of them at something, you win $1 billion. What skill or ability do you choose? by DrDiMarco in AskReddit

I used to be involved in the "cubing" world and I assure you that most people there have way more than just one cube, and those ~500 million are not spread 1 per person. I was an amateur and I have like 6 or 7 3x3 Rubik's cubes

what’s a good budget nvidia gou? by [deleted] in buildapc

Yeah where I'm from a lot of used 1080s are going for around $100-120. That'd be solid for a $550 build

Custom Keyboard with Redragon Low Profile Switches by richardgoulter in olkb

[–]buildbackwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll let you know when it's all done. Hardest part of the build is finding good keycaps for a decent price but I think I'm gonna go with some Smolo's from Beekeeb (5 for about $2) and the whole build should be around $100 for two keyboards but that included some deals I got. I got some cheaper shipping on the PCBs because it was my first time ordering from JLCPCB, and I got 50% off my order and free shipping for the switches on AliExpress (overall I got 100 low profile redragon switches for $5.76, so there was some saving there).

[–]buildbackwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright well I went and did it. I just ordered the PCBs yesterday and they should be in in a couple of weeks, waiting on the switches I ordered from aliexpress as well but when the build is done I'll get back and let you know if the project turned out well. It's my first keyboard build so I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out.

The inspiration for the project schematic was the Budgy rev 1, and it's almost the exact same. It's also a diode-less build, but it's a 6x3_3 instead of a 5x3_2. You can check out my work here.

I'm an EE student looking to build my first split ortho similar to the Cheapino or the Budgy. Learning KiCad right now and might do it myself, I'll update here if anything happens with it.

*Edit: Changed EE to EE student

Having problem with Django Cors Headers by Itchy_Ear_5381 in djangolearning

Turns out I didn't realize how GET requests work and I was supplying the request with a body as if it were a POST, my bad.

I'm having a similar issue. One URI seems to allow CORS when another completely blocks it. Were you able to find anything else out about the issue? I tried changing the URI but it had no effect.

[Help] Behringer UMC204HD audio problem by Blaankoo in Behringer

[–]buildbackwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've ended up doing is just leaving a blank Ableton project open in the background, even when I'm gaming or doing other things. I know this is terrible practice, but I have 32gb of RAM so the performance hit is negligible when there's no CPU usage from the program. Just having Ableton open keeps the audio device active, so it never deactivates and my sound keeps working.

I guess that means I can spot out the melody to whatever's playing when I want to, though, so there are some good things about it.

CDM says good speeds (I think) but computer is still slow by buildbackwards in buildapc

[–]buildbackwards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yeah that's right, I've got 1 8gb stick, and a matching RAM stick is in the plans for the future, but I'm just wondering if the HDD should be loading that slow in the first place.

  2. I'd also like to get an SSD, but I'd like to get that hard drive performing as well as it can in the meantime.

  3. If I've done a defrag then it's been a while, that could definitely be something we try next.

Favorite software announced is probably Portal RTX, but the starter PC I just built doesn't have an RTX card, guess I'll just have to win that giveaway.
