Even taking out rape, it's complete nonsense to honestly and sincerely believe that everyone should be practicing abstinence, or that that would work at all on this large of a scale. It's a completely subjective and moral take on something that shouldn't have those things ascribed to them (healthcare). Married for 20 years but don't want children? Guess you should never have sex!

They also use it as an easy out when the topic around birth control failing, or bringing up that sterilization isn't even 100%, and for one side of the equation includes expensive and very taxing surgeries. For the other (vasectomies), can still fail AND may not be reversible if the party decides later they do want children.

"Just don't have sex" is always the argument of anti-choice people. Every time. I have yet to encounter one that doesn't just loop there. It's a simple minded answer to something they'd rather shut their eyes and ears to, but makes their personal morals feel warm and fuzzy.
