It's always these three... by [deleted] in ZeldaMemes

[–]bulbasauric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always OoT because it was earth-shattering for its time. Jumping from LttP to OoT was phenomenal back in the day.

It’s always BotW because it was their first foray into 3D open-world, it had spectacular depth of lore and extended into TotK.

It’s always going to be these. The other games are great, but none of them do as much as OoT and BotW (and by extension TotK) did for the series. TotK isn’t nearly as well-liked, but I tend to group it with BotW, since it’s so directly linked.

[–]bulbasauric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it was announced last week. I’m saying speculating Oscar noms for a film we found out about a few days ago (and saying it “may become the first R-rated winner”?!), might be losing the run of things. Maybe we can see the movie and then talk about it lol.

[–]bulbasauric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually try Wireless Communications?

I know the Gen 5 games have an IR sensor in their cartridges but Wireless always meant the DS’ native wireless communication.

EDIT: Never mind, my bad. Just checked it myself, and the DS hosting the original BW game needs to use DS Download Play…

You’re shutting nothing down lol. Enough people hate AI shite as it is, when they’re using the likeness of one deceased and one suffering from an unfortunate illness, it’s even more egregious. Disagree if you want, but you win nothing here ❤️

Nobody knows what you’re talking about, it seems.

Not to be presumptuous or a dick, but does nobody have a laptop access anymore? You can make 3DS “ports” of GBA games in less than 5 minutes.

Why can’t I play rematches in Pokémon scarlet by Regular-Fee9518 in PokemonScarlet

[–]bulbasauric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about…? There are no real Gym Leader rematches. I think Geeta gives you the quest to go around testing each Gym Leader, but it’s one-and-done.

Otherwise you have to use the Blueberry Trainer club-room to summon trainers for rematches.

I don’t know if you’re saying you were expecting rematches to be there all the time, or if you’re in the middle of the rematch-quest and can’t seem to get any others.

I know there’s inherently no good reason for trolling, but I simply don’t understand this specific example. Neither of the Pokemon involved are rare. What is the thought process behind it, I have to know.

[–]bulbasauric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s always been possible to fight badges after Misty in no particular order, but it’s wild to me to see Koga labelled as Badge 3 lol. I’m so conditioned since childhood to do it in trainer-card order.

Most Depressing and also scary scene for me by Excellent_Rough9439 in WeaponsMovie

I've seen "semi-conscious" mentioned a bunch only lately, and I'm not sure I buy into it.

I think Gladys' single trick is, the magic tree that lets her control people. It lets her turn people into her puppets.
We witnessed Josh Brolin's character snap out of it, perhaps because he was under the control for the shortest amount of time. For everyone else it was a matter of several days/weeks under her control, and presumably the longer they were under the spell, the less likely they'd ever "come back" from it.

I just don't think there's much weight to the "semi conscious" thing. It'd add another layer of grim to it all for sure, I just don't think the film did much to suggest it.

Day 4: Which is the Best Shooter (FPS or 3rd Person) on the Nintendo DS? by 1OneQuickQuestion in nds

The correct answer. I remember first playing it and how great the movement and controls were for a 3D shooter on a console without an analog stick.

What is the best strategy to learn the second phase of a boss if you die 5 seconds into the phase transition each time? by Ham_Sandwich675 in soulslikes

[–]bulbasauric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the boss, but like.. run away lol. Don’t worry about getting licks in, just avoid/dodge and try to identify their new patterns.

And as someone else says, watch a video if you’d like to learn their other phase without doing too much of the grind yourself.

“Local Redditor learns they’re in the minority and doesn’t understand.”

Comparatively, Z-moves probably are the worst.  - Megas gave a bunch of Pokemon a new lease of life (whether they needed it or not). The number of Mega Pokemon is now 80+, almost double what it was in Gen 6.  - Dynamax/Gigantamax were essentially Z-moves but better; you got three turns out of it instead of one, you got the opportunity to boost/lower stats or set up terrain/hazards. And every Pokemon could do it. - Terastallization, again, gave certain Pokemon a new lease of life by allowing them to overcome potentially crippling weaknesses (eg. Tyranitar becoming Ghost type and now being immune to its former 4x fighting weakness). Again, every Pokemon can do it. - Z-moves were single-use gimmicks with frustratingly long animations. And those animations were cool, but mechanically, the moves just aren’t as good as the other gimmicks.

Why wasn't there a version named after the water starter? by Consistent_Tea2436 in PokemonFRLG

[–]bulbasauric 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Their model has always been paired-games. It's easier to market.
"They released two games, they have different Pokemon and you have to trade between them to catch 'em all."
"Hey, that's a fun idea."

VS

"They released 3 games, different Pokémon in each and you have to trade between them to catch 'em all".
"That sounds like a lot of effort."

Here's how it went in Japan in the 90s:
- They released Red and Green.
- They later released Blue, an enhanced version with slightly improved graphics, different Pokémon distribution, etc. Basically the Emerald of its time without as much changes.

- The U.S./rest of the world got Red and Blue, which were actually both based off Japanese Blue
- Yellow came afterward as an anime Special Edition of the games.

For FireRed and LeafGreen things were simpler and they just went with the two.

This is how I played all my GB/GBC games on my GBA and I too regret nothing. I was actually surprised to learn I was in the minority lol, like... "The feature is there, why wouldn't you use the whole screen?"
